Much ado about nothing but one of the many things I hate about 12 step is the notion of "clean". Drug users are not dirty. You can just say sober

Bad Hasbara

I go to NA where we say clean instead of sober. Its not a big deal to me.

Melazond

The guest’s mic is super low, is there any way to recalibrate so it’s more even with yours? Actually I’m sure you guys have already done that kind of stuff. I’ll just wait to get home to my Bluetooth speaker!

Bad Hasbara

No you right. Fixed it to best of my ability.

SaltyPretzel

Sober has some negative connotations ("sobering experience", etc.). Maybe not the best word to motivate addicts...

Laura Jacqueline

They say "clean and sober" because sober is traditionally used by AA to describe being Alcohol free and "clean" is used by na to describe being drug free.

Great guest, great conversation and great hosting ya’ll, got deep at times, and loved the segment about the art of talking/debating with Zionists. A discourse analysis of sorts!

CM

I want the contact of Daniel’s Korean acupuncturist!

Finally saw the debate between Daniel and Rudy. I then went back and watched Ep 4 of Bad Hasbara, and Daniel described my feelings perfectly. I left with the same deeply unsettled feeling because I recognized how effective his “come together” and almost leftist pandering rhetoric could be when communicating with people who are anti-war but have little to no education on Palestine or even progressive Jews in diaspora who had Zionist upbringings. His shtick is hopefully falling apart as the blaring contradictions have become apparent when platformed against the backdrop of a genocide he is complicit in. And I’m glad you guys brought up the “cousins” vs “brothers” thing this episode because that was the first thing I heard during that debate that really started setting off alarms in my head. Something that appears kumbaya on the surface but is much more insidious if you are knowledgeable about the core beliefs of political Zionism. Ultimately I hope that Daniel is kinder to himself when reflecting back on that debate. It was one of the best I’ve seen on this issue (even more impressive considering that publicly debating this topic is not something he has a background in). I was in awe of how well spoken he was in this more combative format. To take such an unwavering and firm stance while coming from a place of empathy is not a rhetorical skill that many have - very similar to the debates I have seen Marc Lamont Hill do. And I think it was vital to see Daniel’s realization that Rudy was attempting to manipulate him in real time. Unsure if y’all have seen this article, but it lays out how Rudy’s role as a new wave hasbarist is to purposefully target the people I mentioned above. It’s all a calculated facade. https://forward.com/opinion/463703/zionism-rudy-rochman-israel-indigenous-peoples/?amp=1 And ultimately thank you both for this podcast. It is truly one of the few things that grounds me and keeps my sanity intact each week. Y’all are both some of the brightest lights during such a shit time. - one of your most moral listeners

Five stars you piece of shit! Jkjkjk love love love you guys

Chibigodzilla

Oof, the way Mohammad embodies the way shitty people say 'We love you ... but" hits hard
