Another episode of the most moral podcast in the world. Today we had comedian Aamer Rahman on the pod who joined us from Istanbul and Daniel joined us from France. Matt was in his home, the same place he's been for years. He needs a vacation.

Ryan Broderick's take on "All Eyes On Rafah" was that more than anything the spread of the image reflects the way censorship and virality on Instagram (and other social media platforms) works at this point: > [I]f you’re desperate for a super concise explanation as to how this random Malaysian user ended up creating the Post Of The Moment, it’s because they basically managed to do the impossible. They generated a pro-Palestine solidarity image vague and abstract enough to bypass both censors and filters on one of the biggest remaining social networks that real people still use. https://www.garbageday.email/p/power-instagram-story For comparison, remember that early on in the war Instagram was translating pro-Palestine bios as being pro-terrorism: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/10/instagram-sorry-for-erroneously-labeling-palestinian-users-as-terrorists/

It’s my husband’s birthday and he’s happy there’s a new episode to listen to today. He ended up saying: “From the river to the sea, a most moral birthday to me”

I think an important point that wasn't discussed in regards to AI being used to create awareness is it readily opens the door for Zionist criticism that things are fake(d). The notion of "Palywood" is already common amongst zionists, and they should not be provided any further ammo in this regard. I say this only because not 30 minutes after listening to the pod I saw an AI compilation put together that was much more realistic than the "all eyes on Rafah" peace. If the direction this is headed is going to be replacing real images that Gazans are literally dieing to produce, with AI that is easily discredited, then I think we need to stop and think about the future of AIs use in resistance and propaganda.

It’s deeply weird that anyone would have a problem with Ariana Grande raising money for charity, considering how charity tends to be the “safe” form of activism. And it’s deeply psychotic that the hasbara response would be to say that it’s racist to give money to charity rather than pushing for policy responses to violence against women and LGBT people, when the whole point with charity is that it doesn’t rock the boat. Is charity going to fix any of the world’s underlying problems? No. But it’s particularly farcical for hasbara to criticize charities benefiting Palestinians for not fixing the underlying causes of Palestinians’ problems.

“Pod Yourself a Newsroom”, if there was a podcast to make Matt more despondent than doing this one.
