So the election happened. And Matt and Daniel are gonna talk about it!

H Haltam

Wait a live when I’m free? Alhamdulillah ❤️🇵🇸👌🏼

hexalm

I'm just shocked not to be seeing it 3 hours after it ended

vcarly

mood lmao

Emme

YES 🙌🏽 thank you 🥹

H Haltam

They had one? When? Why doesn’t YT notify me? Bloody Zionist controlled platform

Uso Dayo

There is a good chance I’ll wake up at 3am and catch this one live

Alex

I will need to wake up at 05:30 my time for this to catch it live.

Mohsin Rao

Oh boy is this needed rn.

Ray

This is going to be way better than the colonoscopy I just walked out of

Anna

Currently getting blamed for the dems not winning. Need some sanity lol

Ange R Ausborn

Pros of subscribing to Bad Hasbara: Keeping my sanity

Anna

I feel like I was there for the birth of this lol as I watched both of you separately back in October 2023 and thought how great it would be if you did something together!

Cons of subscribing to Bad Hasbara: Hearing Winnipeg get dunked on a full day early

Sreekishen Nair

As far as Yiddish goes, I know "schlemiel", and I know "schlimazel", only because of Laverne and Shirley. And I've also always loved the word "shmaltz". I know it's just rendered fat, but it's fun to say!

LeeNYC

I joined in the hopes the dick jokes stopped.

Crystal Sharadin

How do we watch this on YouTube? I only see it on Patreon.

H Haltam

The number of I’m glad Palestinians are being blown up replies to me on X really exposes liberals.

Sreekishen Nair

Two sides accusing the other of being an existential threat, while both sides enthusiastically support and finance an ongoing genocide against the Palestinians.

Ana Derby

That part... she offered zero change

Ailish Henchion

You two are my only antidote in this horror. I start my training tomorrow for a virtual teaching role in Aida Refugee Camp outside Bethlehem. I am disabled so not up to activism or marching but I do NOT want to look back at this holocaust and say I did nothing. Nothing is as important as this. It is the litmus test of our time. Your role is really important. You would have frightened the fuck out of Joseph Goebells! When”s Norm coming on. He is the Sam Eagle of we anti-Zionists. Maybe Miko Peled?

Toby

It’s me! The one who cost Harris the election 😈(according to messages I get online). I’m not sorry, and I’ll do it again and again until the Democrats call a genocide a genocide and not a second sooner. Ball is in their court if they ever want to win again.

LeeNYC

David Packman said the so called lefty podcasts (his, majority report) have lost youtube subscribers as well as paid subscribers by the 1000's

LeeNYC

Musk claims "Americans will have to suffer to fix what's broken"

LeeNYC

Elon Musk is a certified facist: married his business interests to the interests of government. That is the actual definition

Ray

My bad!

Jessica Martone

Thanks guys! As always you help me feel less alone and less crazy .

LeeNYC

Mazel tov, Daniel! Boy, that was fast!

Emme

“If you have a couple of hundred or a couple of thousand of people who want to kill all of whatever ethnic group (the Jews, the immigrants, whatever), if you have a few thousand of them in a society, the most they’re going to do is commit some hate crimes, which are terrible but they’re not going to be able to actually carry out a genocide, if there’s not a few million people who get on board just enough to let it happen. That’s why I like Mayer’s book, why I think it’s important. Not a perfect book, but I think, a valuable one. Now, I want to start this episode by busting a myth and we just talked about it: it’s the myth that every person who joined the Nazi party or supported them actively hated Jewish people and I think it’s important to counter that, not to give the Nazis credit, because I think it actually condemns those individuals more, the thing that is important for people to understand is that you don’t- Little Men and Women don’t have to hate in order to enable genocides. Benign indifference is all that’s necessary,” Behind the Bastards Podcast episode Part One: How Nice, Normal People Made the Holocaust Possible

Sreekishen Nair

Thank you for citing and recommending this. I didn't know about this show, but it looks really interesting.

Emme

It’s so good!! Matt is a regular guest. He’s on the Joseph Mengel and Reinhard Heidrich episodes, holy shit are they good (horrific, yet important info).

Penny M ?

Listening to you guys is such a treat. Especially as a try hard vegan/ vegetarian observing BDS and blocking Zionist celebrities. Bad Hasbara is my Coca-Cola and my Taylor Swift 🙏❤️🍉

Ibrahim Khatib

Matt finally said the one thing that I've been frustrated nobody gets. People vote for someone who is their own person and believes in something every single time over an NPC drone that has no meaning to anyone on anything

LeobaL

I'll be listening to this soon... but if you ever want to make some Bad Hasbara merch, I will gladly buy a shirt that features the immortal Matt Lieb quote I FUCKING HATE LIBERALS. As an Australian this will do double duty for me!

Kiki

the panic on daniel's face when he realized he was alone with the hogs. fearing, I'm sure, that he himself may become the slop.

Stef

I wish it wasn't streaming at like 5am time in Melbourne Australia... Please deal some fresh slop to your Aussie piggies!! 🙏🐽 ❤️‍🔥

Alex

I missed it live for that reason.

Stef

Testimonial: As a long-time paying Patreon piggy, I love receiving my slop before the other hogs, and I really love the exclusive slop those common hogs never get to gorge themselves on. Way better value than therapists! Please never stop the flow of slop, my mental health depends completely on you now 🥰

MADS LUNDGAARD

Most Moral Mads has joined the Most Moral Live Stream!

Alex

Identity reductionism is such a better way to put it than identity politics. Thank you Daniel for talking on the radical history of identity politics

Alex

Red-Brown alliances are a totally seperate thing to a Left populist/Left mass movement that is needed. There will be uncomfortable conversations but that isn't the same as a Red-Brown alliance that inherrently moves in the direction of Third Positionism/Strasserism where a large part of the fascist creep is coming from. NazBols are just Third Positionists who have more in common with Otto Strasser than Marx, Bakunin, Lenin or Kropotkin.

Alex

Omg of course!

Alex

Oh yes you are in for a treat. Behind The Bastards and all other shows that Cool Zone Media does are amazing.

Alex

Giving people like Rogan a free pass for going in the other direction cos of Leftists is such a cop-out. I've been a Leftist my whole life and the only other political crowd who piss me off more than the Far Right are my fellow Leftists. Rogan is just a grifter.

LeobaL

I'm getting quite frustrated with the people who are saying the third party voters wasted their vote. So people should vote against their values because Reasons? As for Blue voters in Red states... do they also waste their vote?

Adriana Paz

Son lo máximo!! Los amo 🙌🏽🙌🏽 gracias

Rita May

This was such a cathartic listen. My lib friends and relatives are so mad at everyone except for the dems, and hearing this conversation made me feel less insane.

Sarah A

Michael Rosen, the English children’s author, would be an excellent guest to have on the show, both for the Yiddish language and anti Zionist activism. He follows you on Twitter, Matt

Melazond

you can be a patron and still miss the live stream ☹️

Andrew J

The sight and sound of Trump make me physically fucking ill. I want to watch the post-live video, but just seeing Trump on the video thumbnail makes it a hard out for me. I have no idea how I'm going to survive the future.

Barb Cloutier

The Democratic Party is the epitome of entitlement - they think they are entitled to votes, and don't have to earn them.

Scott Peterson

We lump them all together and call them Hispanics but they are not a single united group. Puerto Ricans don't care about Mexicans or Guatemalans etc

Kat

Not only is the Biden crowd's support for genocide outrageous, but it made Biden and Harris look weak. Because they kept telling the Israelis to be more considerate and were completely ignored. If Biden & all had come out with a strong moral stance they could have looked strong. For sure no one notices that genociding pretty much helpless people isn't exhibiting real strength. Trump & Netanhahu make themselves look strong by doing this. People, I think, like someone who looks strong in the presidency. Fake strength notwithstanding, Trump looked stronger. Anyway, thanks for the analysis.

Kat

Darn, Stef, I was reading your comment and my brain separated "therapists" into "the rapists." Either way, it's better value, but obviously my mental health is still bad.

Eve

A really lovely man. Great suggestion.

Sreekishen Nair

The election felt like a lethal ransom – a geopolitical version of the “Saw” movie: vote for genocide with some conciliatory benefits, or vote for it with someone who publicly demonizes me and my family. If I really love my family, I’ll vote for genocide with benefits – as if the extent of that atrocity doesn’t make this whole thing a grotesque non-starter. And with Netanyahu endorsing one side, and Cheney endorsing the other (and since both are Iraq war-hawks who now want war with Iran), it didn’t really seem like much of a ‘choice’ at all, more like a chokehold. Since I couldn’t vote for either headliner, any vote I casted would have been a throw-away, so I wrote in “arms embargo" on my ballot. But I scribbled that in with a crappy pen on a rough desktop surface, which made the letters look like a child’s drawing of a stegosaurus, especially after trying to re-write it a few times in futile attempts at legibility. So, I guess I voted for Sloppy Pre-K Dinosaur. But at least no one I know shamed me for casting a protest vote, Harris supporters or otherwise. We all agreed ahead of time to not vote-shame each other because we all knew it was/is just an awful (non)choice.

Ian Weniger

I was gonna suggest the Yiddish newspaper in New York City but Michael was raised in a Yiddish-speaking house. A very good choice for a guest!!

Ian Weniger

Rogan was never a political actor. He runs a talk show on a shoestring and he needs content. His only principle is monetization of guests.

Alex

Runs a talk show, has platformed some really reactionary arseholes, jumps into both-sidesism. As for shoestring budget, he managed, not long after the launch of JRE, he listed in the top 100 list on iTunes, got their first exclusive deal from the SiriusXM Satellite Radio. From 2013 onwards the show made heaps more via ad money from iTunes and YouTube. According to Forbes, his podcast income was $30m in 2019 (not counting YouTube revenue), and then the $200m deal in 2020 with Spotify.

Sarah Jarrett

Love the idea of 'wokeness' as an overcorrection. Such a good podcast

Maenad

They are just as transactional as Trump, yes! He’s just blatant about it, and that’s what they hate, rather are told to hate, since they parrot what’s on teevee like good little Stasi.

Ibrahim Khatib

Surprise but no surprise, turns out DNC delusionalism wins again. They're busy denying that Genocide has anything to do with their catastrophic defeat

Carrie Dahlby

This is the episode I subscribed to listen to, as well as the episode that's gonna get me to unsubscribe and stop listening. You're just too dehumanizing of anyone that's ever had the audacity to register as a Democrat, and far too uninformed on the dangers a Trump presidency poses. I don't know a single trans person that doesn't want to flee the country. Same for parents of trans kids like myself. I will miss the catchy theme song and the dick jokes but y'all aren't leftist enough for me.

Carrie Dahlby

Yeah. I only have a rudimentary understanding of the difference between liberal and leftist. But I didn't realize that you could be so radically leftist that you start turning right again... Although I understand what was said in the half of this episode that I was able to listen to, and agree with a lot of it, I just can't chill with these dudes anymore. Trump's 2nd term is an existential threat to trans people, undocumented immigrants, and the planet due to being a climate change denier. I couldn't believe how dismissive they were to these issues. I like to think they're just dramatically under informed. I'll never find an anti-Zionist podcast this funny, but hopefully I will find one that's less MAGA friendly.

Bree

💯agree with you Carrie. The Trump apologia here is just stunning. Two white dudes sick and tired of having to talk about racism and misogyny—white dudes who hate “liberal elites” more than those salt of the earth MAGA folks we can build coalitions with to take down the…uh…corporate wokes…like Black legal scholar Elie Mystal. This is SO disappointing because I love this show and most of their guests and am as furious with the Democrats as they are re: genocide (among other failures)

Bree

Apparently Daniel finds listening to Trump a lot more enjoyable than listening to Kamala (from “a musical, jazz”) perspective. I thought I was going to throw up when I heard that.

Bree

Do they mention Rogan in this episode specifically? I thought so…but couldn’t find where in the episode this was….

Carrie Dahlby

Yeah I'm super bummed too. But I can no longer support them at all.

Bad Hasbara

Not for nothing, but a big reason why we are mad at the democratic party is precisely because we think Donald Trump is a monster and they have twice now allowed him to be president

Carrie Dahlby

You needed to say that in the podcast then. And saying things like he's not a threat to democracy... so many things that made y'all sound MAGA friendly... paying just a little lip service to your frightened friends... it was a depressing listen for me. Meanwhile trans people are all recommended to get their passports with their gender while they still can. And stock up on meds ahead of time before they're outlawed. And that's just one issue. The shit is about to hit the fan so hard.

Bree

I feel like we are talking past each other here. I am mad at the Democratic party too. FURIOUS at them. That has nothing to do with why this episode is offensive.

Bad Hasbara

Bree we had this conversation on Twitter.

Bree

I’m not upset with you or anyone for being “too critical” of the Democratic party. They’re actively committing genocide. There is no way to be overly critical of that. The problem with this episode is the misinformation, false equivalencies and Trump apologia. Misplaced (or simply absent) empathy/solidarity is something we’ve all come to expect from garden-variety white bro-casters. But as a longtime listener, I thought you two were better than that.

Bad Hasbara

Yes you said on twitter. Remember. We just had this conversation.

Bree

And yeah…Carrie raises an important point—the difference between lib and leftist is NOT well understood outside of academia and some activist/social media circles. Carrie sounds like the kind of person radical leftists should want as an ally and you’ve alienated her by showing more solidarity toward MAGA than woke, “pussy-hat, resistance libs” or whatever. I AM a radical leftist so I’m constantly irritated with normie progressives (and disgusted by almost all elected Dems). But I’m also well-aware that the Republican party is a far-right hate group explicitly promoting fascist (er..populist) policies with a well-thought out plan to entrench plutocratic autocracy and socially repressive theocracy for however long they can—(given the SCOTUS grab—that’s probably for the rest of our lives).

Carrie Dahlby

Y'all were like... Democrats are more racist than Republicans... come off it 😂😂 And anti-woke sentiments and I'm pretty sure Daniel made a pronoun joke... The news source mostly responsible for making me against this genocide is NPR. I was one of a handful of people cheering on the protestors during the live Stephen Colbert episode on August 20th. 2 things can be true... I can be a registered Democrat (to be allowed to vote in the primaries) and be against the war in Gaza (and the occupation and apartheid). I'm not a self-hating woke liberal, so I don't see how I could continue listening.

Bad Hasbara

We didn’t say more racist, we said also racist. But you don’t have to listen. It is just slop.

Bree

This must be such a scary time for trans kids and their parents. My heart goes out to you and yours. 😓

Carrie Dahlby

Bree: thank you. BH: I know certain subtle ways white Democrats are racist, but it can't hold a candle to Republicans. Anyway it's been real and I'll miss you. Maybe try to get off Trump's dick for future episodes 😂

krinklyfig

the fundamental difference between leftism and liberalism is that leftism has class consciousness and incorporates within their beliefs a critique of capital while liberalism does not. liberalism is about liberation (rights, welfare) through the apparatus of the liberal democratic state combined with capitalist interests.

Carrie Dahlby

Thank you krinklyfig, I'm obviously new to these topics.

Carrie Dahlby

P.S. I'm ordering fast food stop the presses 😂

krinklyfig

yw. i think a good example which illustrates the contradictions and issues with the liberal conception of liberation is that the foundation of this country was designed for the liberty of white, male aristocrats. very few inhabitants of the US were actually considered full citizens. the reason that Black people were explicitly excluded was because of capitalist interests. while it's true that it wouldn't work without white supremacy, the financial interests of the slaveholders and plantation owners were the reason for the 3/4 rule and the constitutional disenfranchisement of a whole race of people. colonial outposts and post-colonial nations like the US continued to prop up the racist hierarchies implemented by colonists, which were created for their material benefit, and to maintain power (the term "white privilege" can be found describing the legal justification for minority rule in very early South African colonial legal documents). that cannot be emphasized enough. there is a plundering of labor and capital that goes to the top built into the system, and it's the basis of our liberal democracy's foundation.

Carrie Dahlby

Krinklyfig: I can see why liberal sounds like a dirty word in that context.

Bree

Sure did. And nothing I’m saying seems to be getting through to you. So I guess I’m out too. Carrie said it more succinctly anyway 😆 GET OFF TRUMP’S DICK

Carrie Dahlby

I meant the calling "not a self-hating liberal" was a joke/reference.

Carrie Dahlby

You're right, I couldn't make it that far into the episode to hear those remarks. Which I guess meant they were too little / too late.

Matelda

Somehow I can't stay mad at Bernie. He was a disappointment this year but I think I understand how he sees his opportunities and limits. He didn't shamelessly lie to cover for the genocide of the administration, like AOC, and now his point seems to be getting coverage and traction, for as little as that's worth. I don't think his loyalty was quite as unconditional as it seemed.

E Shepard

Yo, it takes EIGHT to square dance. Plus a caller. Much more of a group effort!

Gk

Good stuff yall. I wish I could say it as well as you guys do. Thanks for somehow being able to make me laugh and cry with every episode

Bree

I might be a self-hating white woman, but I’m not a self-hating (anti-imperialist) feminist 😆 And I’d rather be a lib apologist (Many NPR listeners mean well and can be radicalized!) than a MAGA apologist.

Bree

Imagine if men like Matt and Daniel reflected on the ways that they tolerate/normalize racism or misogyny instead of blaming “wokeness” and over-educated elites for alienating their (white) working class brothers….

Carrie Dahlby

Daniel... my cat died yesterday, I don't want to do this. We've all already made our choices, let's just drop it please.
