Excellent! I’ve followed Jimminy’s antics for about six months, both online and outside. Real schmendrick. On the one hand, I appreciate his commitment, consistency, and forthrightness. Jabo and his ideological descendants are at least honest about their project— “we want this (Palestine), we feel entitled to it, we’re going to take it, we expect you to resist, we believe in safety through strength, and, accordingly, we will “kill ‘em all and let G!d sort them out.” “ Grotesque, but honest. I also credit him for garnering way outsized attention given how few in number and mutated the NYC Betar bros actually are. At protests, they are mega effective at provoking (then running to the cops) through insults, anti-Semitic baiting (calling Jewish protesters Kapos and Sonndercommandos and belittling everyone for their physical appearance (c’mon, Vienna sausage finger freckle-freak, this is not your competitive advantage)). It works! The attention of the press and sometimes hundreds of protesters turns from our primary purpose— easing the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and WB—to gawk and yell at them. Putting these shenanigans aside, some of their specific tactics are particularly noxious and deeply harmful. Screaming at moms and children, swarming and harassing Nerdeen Kiswani and, most egregiously, their claims to have provided lists of “deplorable deportables” to the Feds, are reprehensible. I concur with Brace; it seems unlikely Betar is the unitary or even main “source” upon which little Marco relies for his intel, though they are not NOT the source and have made their way to dozens of media reports, press conferences, and podcasts with that claim. This brings me to my concern; their outright extremism allows Shai fucking Davidai (please spend some more time with his messaging on the show; clips from his podcast are among the most grating things i have ever heard) and Jonathan fucking Greenblatt 🧿 to appear reasonable. By presenting them as fringe, it allows “liberal Zionists” (PKA ‘enlightened enslavers’ and ‘gentle genociders’) to decouple ultraviolence, eliminationist militarism, and Jewish supremacy from the mainstream Zionist project. They are merely ‘mask off,’ but focusing on them hides the reality of Jewish Israeli (noun = Israeli, Jewish = adjective) brutality. How do you isolate them and defang them, other than contriving a circumstance where you beat the shit out of them legally (I miss Jerry Springer Z’l and Steve) or ignoring them with greater discipline? I believe it has something to do with getting PEPs and electeds to see Jabby’s vision IS Zionism as enacted, not fringe, not an aberration. Betarism=violent Jewish supremacy=Zionism. Also “Bear Jews” is gold.
