At the end of the day these are developer minded money people. If the ultimate plan was to try to build back Gaza (riviera or not) and hold a stake in the natural gas and port shipping that would be a cap on that pipeline they want to extend through the desert. That's is going to be an insanely lucrative part of the globe soon, and making peace with Hamas is imperative for whoever wants a piece.

When we say "Free Palestine", we must be aware of what that might look like and not what we don't want. The recent AJE doc on a day in the life of the mayor of Ramallah was useful for me to know what a free Palestine will lean on hard. The Mayor has half a dozen cats and Gazans aren't all cat people, so there's that, for example😉✊🏻🇵🇸

As a Brit (regrettably) I always enjoy learning which of our freaky foods capture imaginations around the world but I’m so fascinated in particular by where the fish head idea came from 😭 The only thing that I can think of is an insane but very niche thing called stargazy pie which has apparently also become a go-to example of cursed British cuisine in China lmao

Absolutely LOVED this episode and was so thrilled to get it early. I’m currently a Gallatin grad student and I could not be prouder of Logan. 🥹 Quick correction: Gallatin is the college devoted to individualized studies/self-designed curricula. Music Technology is actually in Steinhardt and Engineering is in Tandon and the only reason I am bothering to mention this is because those are probably the only two things you couldn’t easily study at Gallatin 😂 Also, John Beckman is NYU’s overall spokesperson. The faculty at Gallatin have been petitioning for clemency for all of the students suspended for a year or more for protesting Palestine. NYU’s president is a huge Zionist and her administration has made a number of students and faculty persona non grata without normal due process and has consistently refused to meet with Pro-Palestine student groups to even hear them out. NYU Gallatin faculty voted “no confidence” in her last year because of how she has thrown the book at students protesting for Palestine. Her administration also had Zionism listed as a protected identity in a mandatory anti harassment training for all students and compared being a Zionist to being a Dalit which is…one of the dumbest and most insulting analogies I can think of. Anyway, I’m a huge, huge fan of the pod and appreciated this episode and insights from a former Violet!

Re: Logan’s (NYU speaker) major and crying about politicizing commencement: My partner got a Masters from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government last year, and the student speaker, Ali, went “off approved script” in a similar manner. The next morning, I’m having breakfast with her Jewish-Liberal-Zionist parents and her mom, I SWEAR TO GOD, said to me: “I didn’t care for the class speaker. I think it was unconscionable that he made the ceremony so political” To which I couldn’t help laughing while responding: “god forbid the KENNEDY SCHOOL OF GOVERNMENT did anything political!”

I think the comments that Sanders always states “Netanyahu’s government” rather than “Israel” regarding blame and who weapons are being sent to, are unfair and inaccurate, however disappointing he may generally be. Seen a few Tucker Carlson clips where he's taken an anti-zionist line, and lo and behold he had Ben Cohen on his podcast recently. All other episode titles were still cukture war nonsense, but I wonder if it's worth looking into the part of maga that's turning against Israel. MGT asking why we're fighting on behalf of Israel recently too. Of course,no one who actually has Trump's ear seems to have turned which is where it would count.
