Mr. Kapos' moral clarity is deeply inspiring.

Stephen is so interesting. He used to be a member of the Labour Party in the UK until they sent him a letter threatening to discipline him for choosing to commemorate the Holocaust on a Zoom call with anti-Zionists. This was under the awful Starmer who has disciplined/expelled more (ant-Zionist) Jews than any other Labour Party leader - ever!

Alice

Brilliant ❤️ thank you so much for inviting Stephen Kapos! A legend indeed xx

This was a great interview with a truly beautiful human being. If zionists were in any way sincere, they would take in what he’s got to say.

I think you can see parallels between some nazis and the current, violent glee shown by Israelis. But you have to read a lot about the campaigns in Poland, the Soviet Union and the Balkans to understand. The Germans believed Slavs were another inferior race, and the huge civilian death toll is yet another nazi forgotten genocide. Just about every horrific the IOF has done in Gaza was done in eastern Europe. German apologists will insist these acts were just the SS - it was not. The German army soldiers were just as guilty. Survivors on both sides attest to this. Ordinary Germans, who prior to the war would not have even thought about such acts, committed horrific atrocities. The process by which someone could be brought to such a state was described by German soldiers. Someone in the unit would do a war crime, and everyone would be shocked. But they wouldn't be punished. Then in a few days they'd do the same thing, only this time someone else would join in. Pretty soon almost everyone would be doing the war crimes. Soldiers who didn't tried to transfer, got wounded, would commit suicide or would be "killed in action." It's probably a good thing German losses were so bad. As it is, I have no idea how bad domestic violence and PTSD were in post war Germany, but I'm guessing both were bad. Going back to Israel, they describe exactly the same process of being encouraged into war crimes. Breaking the Silence has published some harrowing testimonials. So has Haaretz. One young soldier saw his CO break the arm of a Palestinian child who wouldn't get out of his way quickly, so he reasoned this was OK. Those disgusting videos where they blow up houses, or loot valuables, are part of the same normalisation. But unlike the nazi soldiers, the IOF soldiers return to "normal life." Some of them might describe their actions, which again normalises them. Trouble is, unless your brain is already really, really twisted, you can't do things like shoot children, run over people with a tank, blow up homes etc without it slowly destroying you. I'm sure you've read of the PTSD and suicides among people who've gone into Gaza - this is the result. It's yet another reason I firmly believe Israel must be dismantled, because it's killing its own people just as much as it's killing Palestinians.

First of all, I didn't know Heavy D died. Thanks Daniel for screwing my day up. Secondly, the Chinese restaurants skit on Fu gee la is the greatest skit on any album I've ever known. My friend played it for me at 16 and I spent years unable to find it (cuz I thought it was a Wu-Tang skit couldn't find it on their albums anywhere).

My cousin, who died a few years ago at the age of 93 and was a Labour voter until 1998, would emphatically agree with you. She was so happy when Tony Blair won, particularly because one of his election promises was to rebuild the NHS. She was enraged when he immediately started breaking those promises.

Loved this episode. Unsurprisingly a bit less hectic than usual. Old fellas chuckle reminded me of me grandad, who died last year.

thanks for posting that. weak ass is the perfect description, especially the timing. Thom maybe on his own journey with this but I don't care about those people who are only just waking up to it. i know I should be more forgiving and tolerant but I just can't do it. especially those who have that much media presence.

Yah it’s tough! It’s hard to hear people who have been openly antagonizing and excuse making all along suddenly heal turn. it’s hard to hear in light of the constant mental horror and abject pain of how many people have been and still are being martyred, tortur3d, disabled, … still occupied and in horrible grief agony by all of this. I think frustration and skepticism of any possible disingenuous profession of ignorance (that still doesn’t account for the sheer racism or the continued determined ignorance of some peoples lib racism) is a shield from the Sh!++y pain and a well honed survival mechanism to protect from the intensive gaslighting. It’s going to be hard to trust, and it has to be accepted to end the violence… And who even thought we’d make it this far? (Agony and sad feelings)

riz

especially since he said a lot of ignorant and stupid things too. it would have been better if he hadn't said anything.

Wonderful episode, and Mr. Kapos is a true moral giant.
