Matt does this “I’m not very smart thing” but I’ve always found more insight from his comments than from Daniel, though he has good insight as well. Daniel has some intellectual insecurities which can be a bit off-putting (always going out of his way to show that he knows something, always having to be right, etc., But excellent puns.) Matt has humility which can show up as vulnerability and reveal great insight. It’s why I’ve listened to every single episode, much to my embarrassment.

Nah. Heath Ledger had empathy and a generous spirit. He might have been louder than Joaquin, especially because he didn't have the extra baggage of extreme childhood trauma.

I think one of the great things about Miss Rachel is the way she is, for lack of a better way to put it, normalizing resistance. She didn't make her statement be "I can't believe you people aren't speaking out and yet expect me to work with you." She could have made a point about scolding people and reminding them of the magnitude of the horrors. But she didn't. She said it politely and formally in a manner that came off as a business communication. And doing that sends the message that you don't have to be radical and obsessed with the destruction. You just have to CARE. She cares, and not in some unique way, but because she cares about all people so OF COURSE she cares about these people.

When the Menominee took over the Alexian Brothers Novitiate Marlon Brando arrived at the standoff between the tribesman and the national guard. Brando was eventually let in and was such a fucking unserious unhelpful person the Menominee laughed at him and took his watch…I find that hilarious in a really serious story
