Matt and Daniel are joined by Rabbi David Mivasair to read the day’s events right-to-left with a man who knows from Torah. They cover deadly phones, coordinated state terror messaging, and journey east of Gondor into Mordor to poke at the eye of Ungar-Sargon.

Whaaaaat!? Rabbi David in the house! Canada is really colonizing the Bad Hasbarasphere lately. 😁😆

Junoby

Teaghan Young

The Canadians are having a legendary run on this pod!!!

Junoby

AND clip Batya’s stupid Overton Window at around 1:09

Zeinab

the flat earth stuff is the most whatever of his fringe positions so picking that is a bit washed up

Theroc

The root is H(ح)-R-M Haram: Sanctum Haraam: Banned Hareem (aka Harem): women's quarters, NOT the women residing in it

In case anyone has missed the most recent angle of Prettis murder, the agent that took his gun negligently discharged it as he ran away. That was the first shot that startled all the others and why the one guy was screaming, "Where's the gun?!" While he searched the body.

Devon Gritolares

I thought the "I am Daniel mate for now at least" meant he was transitioning at first

This was very inspiring. Empathic witnessing, let’s keep doing it, despite how overwhelming the despair is.

Well naturally Batya has her own show. Her handlers tried to get her a gig co-hosting rising with Briahna Joy Gray but once she cottoned on to Batya's sleazy rhetorical trickery that she clearly learned from some white shoe PR firm Brie put the kibosh on that. Newsmax and The Hill share a parent company, which if memory serves is israeli-owned and very Zionist.

Jacob King

It felt like Paul McCartney and Bob Marley were both being disrespected by that comparison

Jacob King

This comment is just stimulus response so apologies. One of the biggest problems with the Peter Jackson LoTR movies is his decision to portray the orcs as these animalistic primitive barbarians. The books are still problematic but the orcs are meant to be the technologically superior progenitors of industrial warfare. They should have been space marines or something. The birthing scene should have been in a lab. Sorry, I’ll die mad about those movies but they have been disproportionately influential on some of the worst people. Tech bro orcs and gender switching in the first Matrix and the right-wing lose 95% of their capacity to metaphor.

Do we have consensus on who counts as a Holocaust survivor? Time was I would not have assumed Gabor Maté to be one, but even casting a wide net to include non camp and non Jewish victims, I still can’t imagine there is any complete consensus around who qualifies.

Riaz Abdulla

Why do you still call yourselves “Diaspora Jews”? Israel isn’t your homeland

Leena

I guess you’d have to decide such a line based on why you wanted to draw it in the first place.

Scott Grabel

Are you implying that anyone who wants to be considered a holocaust survivor should be? I’m well aware there are upwards of 5 million Holocaust victims who are not given that recognition by various Jewish organizations. My point was just realizing that there may not be an exact consensus. It matters because if Holocaust education is going to be reimagined from the ground up, that starts with an expanded and agreed upon understanding of who counts as a victim and a survivor.

Eve

I thought they called themselves that from the perspective of how Israel see them and all Jews, not how they see themselves

Riaz Abdulla

That makes me want to double down on my question

Squiggle

The State of Israel is not our home. Home is wherever we are. Our history comes from a place, West Asia. And so we see ourselves as "dispersed" from there. But to have a complete life and community we can be where we are, for real, and understand that something special happened there. A spiritual pilgrimage might be nice, but it's not required. Pilgrimages (like Haaj?) are not part of Jewish law.

Squiggle

I visited Or Shalom ages ago, and they had that rabbi David Ingber as a guest speaker. Now, look at what he's doing over at Romemu, pure, genocidal, self-care.

Squiggle

If somebody did a comparison between Rabbi David Ingber and Gabor Mate, we could call it "Trauma and Genocidal Self-care."

Squiggle

Let's all sing, " ICE is Uruk Chai, ICE is Uruk Chai, Uruk Chai, Uruk Chai, ICE is Uruk Chai!

Riaz Abdulla

Thank you for your patience. I know what I’m asking can sound like a very Candace Owens coded question. Yes , I believe the words Haaj and Chag are actually cognates and refer specifically ONLY to pilgrimages. Thank you for explaining. I need to read more of Rabbi Shapiro’s book. I’m about 20% through it right now
