Matt and Daniel are joined for a three-peat by IL-9 Democratic House Primary Candidate Kat Abughazaleh to talk disguised AIPAC campaign funding, the puzzling effort to cast the latest Epstein revelations as “boring,” and the quaint, School Ties-adjacent anti-semitism feared by our nation’s football-and-handjob elites.

YoOooOo second comment mofo right here!

just starting the ep. great Spin so far. if anyone hasn't heard it, "Hammond Song" from the Roches s/t album (probably their most famous song?) is absolute top-tier stuff. there's a 1982 Berlin concert recording kicking around which is worth watching in its entirety. ok, back to this genocidal hellworld

Mirco

Basically Epstein collected compromat on powerful people on behalf of Israhell.

Ellen McCabe

I love The Roches. They always reminded me of The McGarrigles another sister group with great harmonies. Then I found out Loudon Wainwright was married to Kate McGarrigle and Suzzy Roche at different stages. So guess he had a very specific type!

Jonathan Kadmon

I call Batya the "Tribune of the Plebes".

Mike DeBackPack

Anybody else can't help but hear Kat Abughazaleh's name and sing: "Abughazaleh, oh! there's whiskey in the jar." No? Just me? Hm

E Shepard

😆😆 from the Smothers Brothers song??

Ray

from here to nantucket emcees kick the bucket

'The Dubliners' is my point of reference from a CD that was laying around in my grandparents kitchen since who knows when, but sure

Jethro Hatch

I feel like the griselda Benny the butcher stuff is intentionally made for old school guys who want something new. I think the proper term is trap rap? Or trap?

Lyrics To Go

If you haven’t heard it, look up Loudon’s daughter Martha’s song about him

Jonathan Kadmon

And the pogues and dropkick murphys and thin lizzy and Metallica. It's an old irish folk song. I think it might be just you Mike. I don't onow what the pogues or any of the others are saying in that part of the chorus but It doesn't sound anything like abughazela

GC

Agree completely about the intentions but trap is the new-ish-school sound (think Migos, hi-hats on 8ths/16ths [lots of triplets and ratcheting], free associating flow with final words repeated) that modern coke rap (=Griselda) was providing a "new old school" alternative to. Beat-wise, coke rap is typically boom bap in line with 90s Wu Tang (not 80s KRS-One) in part because of Raekwon/Cuban Linx, which is arguably the first coke rap album and which has the wide-screen cinematic feeling that Daniel is rightly mentioning. "Shakey Dog" from Fishscale (2006) is to me a really clear developmental example of the 35mm coke rap sound. Lyrically, musically, and sonically it's an action movie. Trap, and this is not a criticism, sounds more like what digital video used to look like.

Jethro Hatch

I'll agree with that. I never what to call it. The fact that I think they colabs with like the Mexican ot they break a lot of genres. I'm just glad as a 50 year old head they're still thinking about us. Lol

GC

Absolutely/same! As penance for focusing entirely on the Spin in this generally excellent and serious episode I am off to donate to Kat A's campaign fund. I am eagerly awaiting her won-the-primary and am-in-Congress appearances on BH. Fists raised!

Ellen McCabe

After he spent all that time teaching her to swim

GC

this made me laugh so loud i got glared at

Trish R

Is laura fine related to randy fine? Also - my God Randy Fine’s instagram is so openly and disgustingly violently racist

Scott Grabel

Daniel is not exaggerating about the “67” bullshit

lacey

Where are people going to find reporting on the Epstein files?

Eve

Whack for my daddy oh! Saying that, I'm Irish and I haven't a feckin' clue what it means

Jaleh

A very good and important episode and yet my favorite bit was Daniel highlighting Morphine, one of my most beloved bands of all time.

Johnny H.

MORPHINE! Lest we not forget… TWO STRING bass.

Johnny H.

Griselda mentioned!
