Matt and Daniel are joined by author Susan Abulhawa to discuss Israel’s disdain for diasporic Jewish expression, making the right people uncomfortable, and faux-righteousness from the Jewish right.

All too predictable to watch BH finally sour on Mamdani after calling us "wounded children" for smelling his bullshit 12 months ago. Liberals are always late.

Deep Black

Hope you won't get backlash because she said a bunch of terfy stuff

Adele Chapin

29:00 A truth universally unacknowledged

T

I hate to say it but the BH boys have a massive blind spot when it comes to transphobia. Not a single trans guest in the show's history and have had a slew of guests with a sketchy history of terfy shit. But something tells me this criticism wouldn't be accepted in good faith.

Alexandra Puente

The spin is actually something I really enjoy!!!

T

They seem to be vacillating between praising liberals and defending reactionaries. Even this guest, as much as I respect her work and ability to shit on Zionists, has said some really gross far right shit about stuff unrelated to Palestine, and yet gets no pushback on that. So yeah, pretty standard brocialist lib behaviour.

Lars

Be specific. What has she actually said? Isn't grilling pro-palestine about their other potentially problematic views the number one slimy, disengenuous tactic of Zionists? Are you really saying you want Dan and Matt to do that too??

Lars

Yeah, the show is called "Bad Hasbara" not, "Bad terf talking points" maybe you are looking for a general progressive podcast, instead of one thats specifically focused on anti-zionism

Aren Bane

11:15 - CD’s are very much making a huge comeback Daniel.

Albamar Sanchez

Reading her books and anthology is my next reading project. Pa'lante, Susan. ✊🏾

Hermanos Gutiérrez is a Latin instrumental band formed in 2015 in Zürich by Ecuadorian-Swiss brothers Alejandro Gutiérrez (guitar and lap steel) and Estevan Gutiérrez (guitar and percussion).

Lyrics To Go

I sit corrected! As per usual! lol

Ray

ooph, that Susan didn't realize vinyl was making a comeback hits a lot harder when you take in what is occupying her mind. and way less importantly, dj shadow is also on that meiso album daniel... also great taste—i love the dj krush origin story of him buying two turntables in japan after watching krush groove and confusing the shit out of record player salesman (you only need one of these, dude)

Lyrics To Go

yes! very cool collaboration.

Ian Weniger

You can't hasbara a hasbarist.

Ian Weniger

T, I think producer Adam reads all the comments and I think he will consider your criticism fairly.

Ian Weniger

Deep Black, please share a timestamp on the section where you heard TERF-y comments... this episode was a longer show than usual.

Gen Z are over 25, Daniel. We are NOT kids. We love our Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo vinyls 🥰🥰

DavidTovarisch

You know you’re on the wrong side of history when Mother Nature decides to send the BeeFLP after you

Nicholas Storch

Not a single trans guest is an oversight on Bad Hasbara's part but I don't think you are in good faith.

Nicholas Storch

That's so fucked up that you didn't make that distinction until asked. Please, please, do better!

Lisa

But, is her stance on other social issues making her less of an authority on the experience of living under oppression? Many Muslims are socially conservative, are they not deserving of a Free Palestine? Murder and genocide trumps pretty much everything else.

Jonathan Kadmon

Land of milk and HONEY, emphasis on the honey! Susan is awesome, I had no doubt she would come on Bad Hasbara. I'm sorry she had to deal with the close up video of Rabbi Smelly, but Daniel's dildo joke was a 10/10 for that one.

Shazia Ahmad

Susan! Can’t wait to listen.

Deep Black

@Sam Larson I vote for Logan Rozos

linden.lime

There have been 3 they/them guests that I can think of. Idk if they all specifically identify as nonbinary BUT nonbinary people are trans. For another Tracy Rosenthal is very cool and also everyone should read Abolish Rent. Lack of affordable housing is very much related to (sometimes Israeli) firms and foreign powers buying up housing stock and other property to turn it into investments instead of places for human beings to live. Tracy helped start the LA tenant’s union and I think they still live in LA so maybe they could even visit the studio.

Mike DeBackPack

So wait... Are we getting more Bad Hasbara tiers or more Bad Hasbara tears? Because I've been having a lot of bad hasbara tears lately and it has *not* been that fun

Chad Walter

Daniel and Susan keep referring to records as "vinyls" and I am confused. Does anyone else have experience with someone referring to their record collection as "vinyls?" I've just never heard that before.

Zafar

??

Lars

Exactly!

Carl Ivinger

Vol II is so expensive on discogs 😭

xochitl

Most of my music is on vinyl, and I've never referred to my records/albums as "vinyls" 😂 nor have I heard anyone use that word that way before today. Regional thing?

Chad Walter

Maybe but Daniel is Canadian and Susan is Palestinian so I don't know what's happening 😆

Nicole Morse

It would be great to have more trans guests, and I wish the guys could more closely interrogate the way that TERF ideology on right wing Twitter connects to white nationalism and antisemitism. It's sad to see such an incredible writer and voice get drawn into far right talking points that ultimately harm our movements.

Eve

God, that was an incredible episode. What a human being. Free Palestine.

Verbose Minimalist

Very happy to see Daniel jumping on the Angine de Poitrine bandwagon! Also, gonna echo the comments that I'd love to hear more trans anti-Zionist voices. There is a lot of overlap there.
