Matt and Daniel are joined by author and human rights activist Miko Peled to discuss insularity in New York Jewry, the secularization of the bible by Zionists, and the reason for the season: diasporic treason.

Zionism isn't just an ideology, it's materially sustained by the broader system of imperial capital. So why is Miko still aligned with the Green Party? Their program leaves capitalism in place, meaning the material foundation for zionism stays in place, too.

every so often i'm reminded that the wizard of oz was made at the tail end of the dust bowl

Over the rainbow is notoriously utilized as a trigger for mkultra

M W

missed opportunity for "tuck my life into pieces" by papa roach

T

It's cliché as fuck but Over The Rainbow got me through a really hard time in my life. I've always hated the flippancy which that ukelele cover added to it. It's not a fucking cheerful song, it's a sad song begging the world for hope.

Ray

is it me or does this week's guest sound mildly like puff the magic dragon?

Lacey Jones

I cant remember exactly who, maybe on The Deprogram, but someone recently theorized that Tucker is being positioned to rescue the Republican party and Capitalism itself by drawing in disenfranchised voters from both parties. He has a history with the CIA, so it's entirely plausible that this is a bit of a long game. And I guess I should add that I think this interview is doing what it was meant to by both "sides" because they both serve the same Imperial interests. Tucker is going to be a presidential candidate at some point, and they're already paving the way. The NYT is doing its job to make him appealing to both sides.

I was close to someone once who grew up in a New York Hasidic community who experienced pretty intense spiritual trauma, similar to what some folks who grew up very conservative evangelical Christian have experienced…they also became aware of widespread sexual abuse within that community, and that’s why they left and then became Zionist.

Riaz Abdulla

A really good book that explains how a lot of Haredim view folks the hilltop youth is Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro’s “The Empty Wagon: Zionism's Journey from Identity Crisis to Identity Theft”

Uhhh never mind. I was at 1:22:10 and paused to post this

WHERE ARE YOU?!! THE WILD RUMPUS STARTED 80 YEARS AGO!!! 😭😭😭

Thank you for honoring those of us who bailed on Spotify for ideological reasons. Fuck ICE.

T

This is 100% the correct take. I've been saying this for ages, he's acting as a pressure release valve for class tension and the contradictions of capitalism and colonialism.

The Obama clip just reminded that I had a crash out over an internet argument after a streamer called W. Bush (rightly) a war criminal and some guy on the stream got offended by that saying “he was an idiot but calling him a war criminal is too far”…over George W Bush. We’re fucked still

Nicholas Storch

Respectfully, you are putting in "Historical Materialist" terms something that is not determined and easily categorizable. Granted, Tucker is racist, homophobic, definitely anti-Semitic, etc. His pushback on the US entanglement with Israel rings true as far as it goes, and speculation about him working behind the scenes for the GOO is not a science, it is just speculation.

Lacey Jones

Perhaps. Or maybe it's just analysis colored by pattern recognition. A man who once gleefully bragged about embedding himself with the Contras suddenly finding his morality at the exact moment that capitalism and both American political parties are experiencing a crisis of identity and support hardly feels like a coincidence.

Nicholas Storch

I see your point, but I can't take seriously that this is "the exact moment that capitalism and both American political parties are experiencing a crisis of identity and support". By precise moment do you mean the last thirty years?

Lacey Jones

No, I mean the last 2.5 years. I'll grant you we've had a slow burn collapse on the books for 30 years, but the genocide has turned it into a speed run.

This will help rinse out the ewwy effect from Tishby's painful, off-key thrashing of "Over the Rainbow" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMAX1hCdvFA [Community Note: I posted this to the video comment thread for the episode as well, and apologize for spamming. But once you see and hear this, i think you'll understand why ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ]
