Zionism isn't just an ideology, it's materially reproduced by the broader system of imperial capital. The Green Party program explicitly leaves American capitalism intact, meaning Zionism's material foundation would remain intact as well. I wouldn't tell my coworkers or anyone I love to vote for an "anti-Zionist Green."

We’re in the weeds here. My child needs my attention. I’ll just say this: electoral politics will not save us and the entire American political system including both major parties are complicit in the genocide. America is Nazi germany. That said, don’t be a defeatist. It’s ok to take it as a win that there are insurgent wings in both parties who want to end aid to Israel. Feeling some optimism is ok.

It would be absurdly simplistic to argue that his vote for Harris makes him a genocidal nazi "incrementalist". *** Disclaimer: Sharing Perlmutter's statement does not in any way constitute an endorsement for Kamala or the democrats on my part. it just an instructive caveat that hyperbole is not helpful, and loses sight of the more immediate urgency at hand.

For what it’s worth, I think you’re right that the Democrats will continue inflicting imperial violence abroad and reproducing the same capitalist violence that been reproduced since the birth of America and so what’s the point. That said, I still feel optimistic that there are enough Americans dissenting loudly about one of the US’s core foreign policies and that it has led to a shift in both the electorate and in party politics. When apartheid in South Africa ended, it didn’t take down global capitalism/imperialism/colonialism with it, but at least apartheid in South Africa ended. If apartheid and genocide in Palestine can end, then at least we can say that apartheid and genocide in Palestine has ended.

I remember this show criticizing Zohran for not burning his political capital early to endorse a DSA challenge to Jeffries that would have lost. Have you guys reconsidered that take seeing how the strategy payed off in the recent NYC elections? Feels like a knee jerk pessimism without considering strategy is really common on left wing shows.

Sam: Please learn who Dr. Perlmutter is, certainly before trying to pass judgement on him. He's someone everyone should know about, especially if you're concerned about Palestine. Saving people and bearing witness are far more crucial than whatever you may think about his voting record.

Sam to answer your question the analogy isn't bad, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was a people's revolt against apartheid in the same way 10/7 was. There's just a weird lack of consistency with liberal zionists where Israel's holocaust is never seen as historically comparable to the Nazi holocaust.

It's really interesting to think back to an interview she did with David Sirota a couple years ago. She basically outlined the incentives for members of congress to be compromised and how casually it was put out there. Over the following year there were more signs of her "playing the game" and increasingly trying to use a Faustian bargain with the party's power brokers and corporate backers to help the people she represents. It's very clear that you can't co-opt a power structure like that to work against its own goals. "Own goals" being what it gets the people.
