Need to wind a cable from only one side while keeping the other end fixed? Here’s the improved solution! 🙌

🎥Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/enuvFmsoE9o

Supports cables up to 5.5 mm in diameter and 2 m long.

Ergonomic and easier winding thanks to smart design.

Only 2 parts, no supports needed for printing.

Adjustable fixed-end length

After winding, the fixed end can be locked into a groove to set the cable position.

Self-locking mechanism – the cable won’t unwind by itself (you must rotate the knob to unwind) 🔒

Thanks for the epic models, best winders out there. Curious how you're coming along with the one sided, retractable winding? I heard you're trying a metal spring, I've been doing the same by taking apart tape measures. Is there an STL available for this somewhere or you're still working on it. Btw idk if you've looked into it, but in my efforts I got into pull release mechanisms, like how hose reels automatically lock and retract upon being pulled. Here's a useful reference video on how it works in case you hadn't: https://youtube.com/shorts/6yEeLULhlSc?si=ttRbwnrixasWLiwZ another example: https://www.kromer.com/fileadmin/Resources/Public/Downloads/Automatic_ratchet_lock_system.pdf There's many designs, although hard to track down. At the end of the day, you just need a rotating gear of some type with an arm that locks it's rotation, and upon pulling has negative space to rotate out of lock position.

I'm glad you like the cable organizer and thank you very much for the advice! I just released a video on YouTube today (https://www.youtube.com/shorts/JpPsFHUbh1s)! I finally managed to make a functional version and it's worth it! I'll release the model on Makerworld on May 20th! It's not the One-Sided Winding version yet, it's a bit more difficult, but since I know the classic version works, there will be one-sided winding soon too!
