Dyeter had always been curious about those theories, especially the concept of electricity so Bellamy wasn't too shocked seeing his interest but had totally forgotten about the ionic propulsion stuff. It was a pretty small aspect of the study of ions and electrons so at the time he didn't see much in it. Dyeter however clearly sees something he doesn't. Perhaps all that research could go to something good!
