Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle Discussion

Now that I have finally seen the Haikyu!! movie (a couple times, might I add), I need to discuss it with the Love House!

Samie

ayeeee I can't wait!!

Smash Bran'Discootch

Oh MAN I hope I can make it! If you had to choose a single moment that made you tear up THE MOST, which would it be?

SonOfDarkHelmet

I had so much fun with you all in LA! I did want to ask you in person without Adam, so this is great! This is Greg w/ the Demon Slayer shirt. Do you think targeting the other team’s Ace (or Hinata) is a good strategy? Does it actually cause confusion for the other team?

Linh Tran

You know that they had to cut a lot of content for this movie. What else would you've liked to see out of this match?

Girish

Oooo, I did have some questions I wanted to ask you Sarah. 1) what do you think of kenma now after the movie? 2) do you want kenma as your setter, given that he is not really interested in the outcome of the match. Or would you like to play against him, a "game over" match? 3) I feel like Daichi should have tried to learn jump floater serve during training camp, what do you think? 4) any thoughts on movie vs season 5? I remember you mentioning season 5 would have been better in the after movie discussions

Fresh

Ooooo, I can't wait. Sarah was definitely holding back because we're trying our best to not spoil Adam.

Sylvia ZX

I'll be missing the live discussion cuz I need to work late on Thursdays. Anyways, I'm curious to know your opinion on the pacing of the movie. Cuz it feels much more like a real volleyball match to me in comparison to the series. Do you feel like the movie is even more "realistic" in terms of how fast each point went?

weezy

How realistic were some of the rallies in your opinion? Were there ever games you’ve played were you also didn’t want them to end?

Kim Kjell Khan

Question about the pacing of the movie. Did you personally feel that they used too many flashbacks throughout the movie? For me personally it felt like it was too much.

Cerina C

So excited! My question— did Kenma’s POV shot at the end feel true to being in a real match to you?

JujuChonk

Haha my friend and I both watch the movie together and we both set. First thing we agreed on afterwards was it did a phenomenal job displaying the pure exhaustion of a setter.

JujuChonk

Using poor Kenma as a segway... Are there match ending points that resulted in your team losing in an otherwise close game (either indoor or beach) that you can still remember? I had one recently where we were in the finals and were down a few. The other team was at game point but we were catching up. They had an overpass and I went to hit it and slammed it into the tape to end the game. RIP.

Donny Valenzuela

What do you think of Hinata’s growth coming from a kid who didn’t have any technique and only wanted to hit to a player that is now getting targeted with digs?

Stefana

Can't wait to hear your thoughts <3 What did you think of Kenma losing interest in Hinata? (the scene where Hinata realizes and Kenma turns away from him always breaks my heart😭) Also there are many moments I loved from this match (like Kenma and Tsukki enjoying volleyball) but one that needs more love is Nekomata's lowering the net line 🥲

Elle

I have volleyball until 6:30 PDT, but hopefully I’ll be able to pop in for the end of it

Sarah

Nooooo!!! Those sorts of plays always hurt in the moment, but I would say that it is always better to be aggressive and make an error, than it is to play it safe.

2026-09-21 02:00 About Tsukki’s comment on Yamaguchi, I believe he’s referring to S2 when Yamaguchi called him “lame” because that was a shift in their relationship dynamic. After that interaction, Yamaguchi became the one who leads Tsukki to go forward with the sport (at least this is how I interpreted it). Also, when they were running up the hills and doing all the stamina trainings, Yamaguchi was always running in front of Tsukki, and in those instances when Yamaguchi wanted to wait for Tsukki, Tsukki told Yamaguchi to go with the gang first and not wait for him. So in the literal sense he’s one step ahead of Tsukki. :)

When Tsukki said that he can't beat Kuroo on his own and Kuroo said "Are you sure that Yamaguchi isn't trying to beat us all by himself?" didn't Tsukki say something like "He probably is. After all, he's going to surpass me". I loved that moment, although I don't remember it perfectly clear. P.S. We're probably talking about the same moment.😅
