Someone tell me how I managed to cry, not only while watching the episode (I mean, obviously), but also while I was editing the captions?!?! 😭

Oh man... that final rally. Haikyu!! really knows how to make you feel every single contact of these critical moments, don't they?

And that scene with Ushijima and Tendou will get me every single time! Two strange, misunderstood guys who made a connection and will be connected forever through a beautiful game 🥹

I could go on and on, but you get the idea...

"the battle of concepts" is probably my favorite track in all of haikyuu's soundtracks, it's soooooo good. also, are you guys planning to watch land vs air before the next drafts? 👀 since season 3 is so short i think it'd be a good idea

AustinMyB

Here it is the ultimate episode of S3 really love Karasuno's battle vs the giant that is Shiratorizawa. Ushijima is just the realest dude no arrogance at all which would be easy when you're that good. I really love his connection with Tendo also Sarah! Haikyu is 1 about Volleyball but #2 absolutely about these young boys life and growth. Just finding that connection was important to both Ushijima (with his dad saying he would meet new/fun/etc guys if he played) and Tendo(finding a place where he could fit in and find confidence) going forward in their lives even outside of Volleyball. I could go on and on about a thousand other connections between these young men(Kageyama-Hinata, Karasuno-Nekoma, etc) its definitely a core theme in Haikyu about how your teammates/friends can help you become the best version of yourself. And the scene that always gets me is the Karasuno 3rd years hugging right at the end of this match. This means so much to them. Kageyama and Hinata are desperate to win and even Tsukki found that in this match, but the 3rd years have worked at this their entire time in highschool volleyball. They are literally being rewarded at the end of their time for every bit of sweat they poured. Its beautiful man. You can even see the first years a bit stunned at their reaction it really meant everything to them to make it to nationals, even once. Especially with their decision to come back to the team after S1. So excited for ya'lls draft and reaction to S4(soooo many good character stories/arcs)! Keep up the amazing work!

Sarah

Ummmm we did though. For both.

Esquirebob

AH! This was so much fun :))) So many tears 'n goosebumps holy moly

I love Ushijima and Tendo's friendship. You get the sense that Ushijima is likely a nice guy but difficult to approach. And Tendo is just kinda weird enough to approach him just fine and is likely his best friend just because of that.

Can't reply to my comment since I deleted it, but: Refreshing fixed it, video stopped at a random point the first time I watched and I was too quick to write a comment. Soorryyy!

Haikyuu is amazing. Finishing season 3 for the 5th or 6th time now and it is as emotional if not more. Actually crazy.

Mo0t

i think watching land vs air and path of the ball is a good idea as well

bungi

Same. I think I watch both Tsukki's moment and s3e10 specifically soooo many times and i always cry. why is it sooo great???

Jafet Umaña Gomez

I think u guys not remembering that Kageyama switched places with Hinata before that Ushijima cross, Hinata would have never got that and Kageyama knew lol

bungi

(crying at work while typing this) Big congrats to Adam for completing S3 and Sarah for the second watch of karasuno's last point (although I'm sure you've probably rewatched it many times off-camera too) I'm so happy for you!! The camerawork is so crazy. I learned later that creating animation frames that give us a 360-degree shot like that last point is super difficult. Props to the team! The music score 😭 Yuki Hayashi is the talented composer. There's a video on YT where he plays this score during his 10th anniversary concert with his orchestra, and at the end, he stands up and turns, and he's wearing the Karasuno Volleyball Team jacket 🥺 The storytelling, Furudate is insane for making something, a sport, that may look so technical to us non-sport players/enthusiasts, so POETIC. Legendary episode in anime history! The creators and people involved in the whole production, the fandom, and volleyball players around the world are very fond of, if not attached to, Haikyuu. And we're happy you share this moment with us 😭😭😭😭

Jafet Umaña Gomez

u guys reaction to tendo and ushijima friendship made me cry omg

Adam plays M:TG? You know they have a digital online version that you can play on the iPad and with constant updates, tournaments and new cards lol. Oh yes. Thank you two for a great season recap. It has been really fun watching your reactions. Can't wait for you to start Season 4 and Adam gets introduced to all the new characters again.

ik this isnt a johsai game but. to add onto iwai and oikawa's dynamic. Theres nobody more insecure than oikawa deep down lets imo. He may put up a front but hes always aware of his shortcomings and weaknesses. Which is great how iwaizumi gets mad everytime oikawa exhibits a lack of confidence and feels the urge to praise him. also i love your take on ushijima and tendou's dynamic. two funkies, misunderstood, met and understood each other because of a game. I cant wait for s4

I dont know how familiar you guys are with soccer aka football. But theres a wonderful anime, only 1 szn abt it. Extremely down to earth like haikyuu, its not "overly" exaggerated as you would expect from anime. It's called aoashi and although its not the more popular soccer anime. I believe you guys would love it more.

Adam Schulz

I played a ton in high school and college. I haven’t played in a long time, and I would be worried if I picked up the app I wouldn’t put it back down lol

Adam Schulz

I whole heartedly agree with everything you have said. The amount of love and attention to detail that has gone into this anime is incredibly. So many things were so well done, but the story telling takes the cake.

Warren See

Lol. Well, Its called Magic The Gathering Arena. Best thing is you don't have to spend any money to play it too if you don't want to lol! You can play on PC too through Steam.

Senfkrähe

Indeed. If they wanted a more authentic soccer anime, Aoashi is the way to go. Blue Lock is hyper, but it's as over the edge as Eyeshield 21, Prince of Tennis etc are. I always want to recommend "Welcome to the Ballroom" (Ballroom e Youkoso), if anyone is interested in ballroom dancing. Same animators as first 3 seasons of Haikyuu, I believe. Also quite authentic. Anime isnt finished at all, as is the manga.

suckishima (kim)

Aah I was tearing up along with you guys! I swear you were both echoing my own thoughts at every turn 😆 That scene of Ushijima and Tendou after the match always gets me too! I love it in comparison to that scene earlier in the season of them in the cafeteria when Tendou is asking about Ushijima's dad and how their teammates assume that the two of them wouldn't get on together very well, but even then they were clearly enjoying the conversation—and it just transitions so well to this scene now, to see that easy understanding they have with each other has only gotten stronger and they are true friends! I love what Adam said about sports bringing different kinds of people together too! I've probably said this before but truly my favorite thing about Haikyuu is its themes about the human connection, and that scene between the two of them is just one of many many examples throughout the series. I'm constantly floored by how effectively the author is able to weave the actual real rules, technicalities, and culture of volleyball into a compelling story about how connecting with other people makes you stronger—on the court, but also in life. And not in a metaphorical way either; it's about life /because/ it's about volleyball. And to top it all off, the /way/ that the message is presented is so beautiful too! Like the visual in just this episode of of Ushijima's presence keeping the first years glued to the floor despite all their efforts, and like what Adam was saying about the murder of crows taking down the great white eagle—it's calling back to so many previous things, the episode title, the battle of concepts, to Washijo's priority of pillars of strength vs Karasuno's all-out teamwork, to Ukai's statement that Shiratorizawa is the most incomplete team in the prefecture, to Yachi's use of the word "mobbing" to describe how crows attack. It all comes together in one single visual not only as Ushijima pushes them down, but like how Sarah mentioned it's all the upperclassman showing up to help ease the first years' burden. And, that's only the emotional half of the equation. Because it's also all literally the rally that's happening around them. I think my favorite shot of the whole sequence is when you see Daichi's arm shoot out to help lift Ushijima off of them and then it immediately cuts to a shot of his arm in the exact same motion as he goes to dig the ball and keep the play going. It's stunning, and it's so succinct. It's their teamwork and connection working together to overcome. They're connecting the ball, and they're connecting to each other.

Maximilian Sauer

Man, time sure goes by fast. Looking forward to the 🎷. Also, something that I usually see pointed out but didn't yet: Ushijima saying that he'll beat them next time means more than just "wp". He's a third year. He won't compete in the same tournaments or events anymore as them. The only way that he'll face and beat them is if they continue playing after high school AND are good enough to play in the same leagues/at the same level as him. Because let's face it, he's going far and he's going to play at a high level. So im saying that he's going to beat them next time also shows even more respect to them because the only reason he'd say that is if he genuinely believes that they will get there too. He has seen their potential and is convinced that high school is not where volleyball ends for them. That's incredibly high praise.

The season 3 draft is going to be crazyyyy 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Shalini Paul

I can’t believe we have finished season 3! It has been an emotional journey, especially for Sarah.. On that note, I have always felt Sarah would be a perfect fit for Shiratorizawa.. The conventional plays, the strength, the discipline- it all describes her so perfectly!

Tamer Ahmad Gil

I can't wait for you to react to season 4. Although I already saw Sarah's reaction, I want to see you two together. You are a great team. Thank you very much for brightening my afternoons with your reactions, you are great! a big hug from Spain.

Lockian

Damn, Adam should be a writer haha. What he said about sports bringing people together who would never be friends otherwise hit really hard - it's one of those things that makes me sit back and evaluate my life again. It's funny, I remember not having a good answer back when my family asked why I was so into practice - I mean, it's Canada, we don't really get huge scholarships and even winning a lot wasn't gonna do anything for my life. I just kept playing without having a good answer for them. But now, looking back...I mean, my best friends to this day and my wife all come from those sweaty days, questionably shady hotels, and working ourselves to exhaustion. The sport gave so much more back to me than I ever put in. I don't think I could give more to the sport than it gave me even if I had two lifetimes. Man, I love sports.

Adam Schulz

It’s so true. I fundamentally believe that everyone should play a team sport and everyone should live in another country for a year. I think those 2 experiences bring so much experience, values and lessons to people. I love your comment.

Adam Schulz

Thank you. We are looking forward to it, and I’m glad our enjoy it.

Adam Schulz

I’ll have to check it out when I have a minute. Thanks for the recommendation

Barbora Čelková

Man, that scene at the very end with Goshiki sure reminded me why Ushijima is my favourite. Btw. guys, the Haikyuu movie is finally avaliable on crunchyroll just so you know!

rudy_nightangeL

I'd love to hear more of your guys thoughts on the Ushiwaka pressure 'push down' on Hinata and Tsukki with the third years pulling him off them. I think that is an amazing depection of straight Pressue.. just commanding 'bow down to the king' imagery and i always get chills when I see it even though I know the scene is coming. I believe it to be one of the best scenes in this anime, up there with Oikawa's out of bounds super long set. Wonder of either of you have been in hinata/tsukki position and there was just an opposition that was terrifying. I think Ushiwaka last words to Hinata and Kageyama are so powerful - cause his high school volleyball is over and the only time he can see them next is in pro-volleyball., cause there's no doubt Ushiwaka is going pro.. but he was basically acknowledging them and saying "I know you both are going to go pro.. so I'll see you both on the other side.. and I'm coming for your ass." PS. do you think Kageyama was setting Hinata more or felt more confident in setting Hinata cause Tendo was off the court during that point...

Esquirebob

I went and watched this again and boy howdy the 2nd time doesn't make you cry any less

Silvia Morzan

Shiratorizawa's couch said a few chapters ago that if they did a disappointing match thet will have to run back to school. So when they gather when the match ends the first thing he saids is "get into the bus". Someone said it in another comment and thats an excellent detail that i missed on mi first watch

캐럿입니다 💎

OH!!!!!! You guys should totally react to My Hero Academia for next anime it has so many complex characters I would love to see both of yours take on those personalities
