I see you've met Chris 😅 He's a CHARACTER! The scream i scrumpt when Yuri said "don't ever take your eyes off me" to Victor in my first watch 😭😭 Our boy finally matched Victor's freak 😭 Lydia's edits are as hilarious as ever. I'm over here giggling and kicking my feet 😂

From what I've seen over the years, skaters create (or have someone else create for them) two choreographies (short and free programs) each season plus an aftershow choreography for when they participate in the closure of the competition (this one is made just for show). They perform those two choreographies all season although they can make adjustments as they see fit (not complete changes, but slight variations). So basically they need to perform those two programs in the final. Maybe someone with more knowledge on the sport can add more info on this or correct whatever I said that might be wrong. :)

Someone should have told ya'll to watch out for Chris the menace lmaoo 😭

Shaybay44

Lol it has begun 🤣 😂 😅 Chris has arrived

Sarah

Chris is.... wow hahaha. I'm dying at "scrumpt" but I was like DAMMMNNNNN when Yuri said that

Sarah

Do you think this anime is accurate as far as the number of competitions they attend? Or do skaters typically attend more than this? I can't help but feel like performing the same 2 routines all season would be tough? Boring? What do I know?

Sarah

My shock at this man.... 😂

Sarah

Oh yes he has.... I just can't bahahaha

I think I recall that some skaters changed their routine after one competition in the Grand Prix tour due to some dubious choices (once one of them was insensitive towards holocaust survivors for example) but in the end yes, the same routines. And you know, they don’t perform the same way each time. Mental health plays a role there, the mood of the day too, the stamina, the complicity (or lack of) with the audience, the country… everything plays a role in how a skater performs. So even if the routines are the same, not two performances of the same routine are the same. Also these routines are the same in olympic years. The difference between GP and Olympics is the same as with other sports. GP - you represent yourself, Olympics - you represent your country 😊

Dropping in here! I actually left a comment in the YOI tab of the discord about how the figure skating season goes! I addressed it to Adam, but it might answer your question And Paula is right - its the same two routines on paper, but mood, performance, goals, mistakes, etc means that no two performances of those routines are the same. That also adds to the enjoyment of following a skater in a season - as they go from competition to competition, its so satisfying to see them land jumps they previously had trouble with or skate a routine cleanly for the first time. Its not boring for the skaters cuz they’re trying to pull out the routines’ full potential each time, and its fun for the fans cuz we get to see their improvements
