I know a lot happened in this episode, but I cannot stop thinking about that final scene when Yamaguchi goes back to serve and his focal point, the exit sign, has been covered up.

The Yamaguchi/Shimada relationship might be one of my favorite ones in Haikyu!! (and there are a lot of good ones) 😭

The manga is great but the show isnt bad either! Great episode, we should be so lucky to have a mentor like shimada.

Mio

Gyutaro shares the same VA as Akaashi😂

the author never actually mentions which miya twin is older but some official merchandising said atsumu is the older one and that's just what most of the fandom goes along with

Aaaah that Shimada and Yamaguchi moment is one of my favorites in the whole series!! Shimada is on the whole other side of the arena when Yamaguchi gets called in to serve—he's with Saeko and the taiko band behind Yamaguchi—so that means as soon as he knows Yamaguchi is serving, he is ALSO looking up to Yamaguchi's reset point (Yamaguchi told him yesterday what he was going to use), and he sees that it's covered. So before Yamaguchi has even realized there's a problem, Shimada is sprinting around the arena, climbing the stairs to the top level and shoving an iPad into the Shimada Mart bag so that he can get there in time and illuminate the same reset point that Yamaguchi has been practicing with the whole time. It's SO much effort, commitment and just care and compassion from him. And I may have said this bit before, but on paper Shimada has no real obligation to even be there, let alone doing all of that. He's not anyone's relative, he went to Karasuno years ago, he just happened to be friends with the coach and agreed to help with a practice match once. And Yamaguchi was just some kid who he barely remembered, but who came into his store and asked for help with a serve that Yamaguchi only saw once. But he agrees and he becomes this mentor that makes a huge impact on both Yamaguchi specifically and on the team as a whole. Legitimately the whole team might not even be at Nationals if it weren't for Shimada's contribution, and I just think this moment is such a nice culmination of all of that. All those little human connections add up to not only points in a match but to furthering these kids futures and relationships, and I think it's just such a nice thing to touch on in a genre that on the surface seems like it would be all about winning.

I remember being a little distracted by the animation quality in this episode and Shimada just took me out. I was ugly sobbing really bad ;(

The comment on the saxophone coming out is so accurate Sarah!

Kiryu Lee

Noooo only ten episodes left 😭!!! Can I make a suggestion here? After we go through all the episodes and movie currently available, before the next movie and OVA come out, can we have a binge re-watch party or something like that...?

bungi

im crying

bungi

we didn't get adam's tears but this ep got him to touch his chest :')

It's awesome that they remembered the coaches from Kageyama's Youth Camp! The main guy is actually the coach of Japan's Olympic Men's Team! Every Haikyuu reactor forget who they are and mostly ignores what they are saying but those coaches' commentary is always a good stuff!

na

I LOVE JPN sr coach. Pitons

Mentorship is really an underrated thing in life. Agh ur comment really touched me! I love the relationship between Shimada and Yamaguchi. 🙏🥹

Adam Schulz

It was close lol. It was a great episode.

Adam Schulz

Oh that would be a fun idea.

Adam Schulz

I totally agree! Having a mentor makes such a difference! I’ve learned so much from people who have taken the time to mentor me!
