Julianne

I actually think it’s really reasonable and expected he thinks this way right now. He sees it as him doing his job. His previous experiences incl with the coaches he used to have, basically set it up so everyone else’s job is to get him the ball and his job is to get the ball into the goal. I don’t think it’s necessarily out of ego and more out of habit and ignorance. He’s proven that it really takes him time to see the bigger picture on his own for every new scenario he’s in. I don’t necessarily judge him for this outburst because he IS taking in feedback and extremely open to laying down all his thoughts. It almost feels like the other guys are like, yeah ok but your thoughts are wrong and I want you to accept that without saying more or explaining my own thoughts and why you’re wrong. The communication feels very one sided. From a bystander pov it makes sense to us that Aoi’s way of thinking is outside the sport standard bc we know how everyone on the team sees how he’s supposed to think. But from a Aoi perspective, they’re not even really trying to meet him partway. It’s not anyone’s responsibility to help him learn, but if they want him to do what they want, they need to at least start communicating what they want and why.
