When reigen sent that message to mob it wasn’t to ask for any help he really just wanted to tell him how much he’s grown mob decided to do that by himself and reigen just played along !

Lixien

I think you kinda missinterpreted that scene. Reigen saying: "You've grown up so much" was him genuinely saying that in case he was watching. He didn't really know he was going to help at all. He just went along with it.

I don’t think they did actually. Because the fact that Reigen didn’t apologize and Mob still helped him is true. (the part below is a little bit spoilery so sarah and Adam don’t read this lol) I think their perspective will make a certain emotional scene at the end, even more powerful for them. Because that scene is the real growth we see from his character. This is just the beginning.

I don’t think your interpretation of Reigen at the end is wrong. Because you’re right (mob came to his rescue, despite not getting a real apology), he still has a lot of growing to do, but what we’re seeing right now is the start of that self reflection (late twenties vibes lmao). It’s funny because me and my friend were talking and it got me kind of thinking that your mid to late 20s is like a second puberty, because you always seem to unearth old traumas and get deep and self reflective and usually wind up starting therapy lmao So we see little mob go through a pivotal time in his life and… Reigen too I guess haha

Lixien

I mean yeah, I think I know which moment you're talking about (last episode). And yeah, that point about not apologizing is still there. But interpreting this scene as Reigen calling Mob for help is still completely wrong which kinda destroys the character development and the whole monologue he got here in this episode. It makes them even doubt if the phrase meant for Mob was even genuine and if just he went back to his old ways, like, immediately. And that's just not true.

I think Reigens message to mob was legitimate and he really did realize how much mob has grown since they first met. It wasn’t a cry for help but since mob was watching he decided to help reigen.

I feel a lot like Sarah does about Reigen. I really enjoy him as a character, and usually am not as harsh on him but a diff part of this ep made me soo disgusted with him...it's when he was relishing the mortal terror of the press and getting snarky after Mob shook things up. I know the press was out to bury him, hounding him etc which is usually awful behavior...but as he acknowledged, he brought it ALL on himself. from the day he opened his biz to the TV show (also "MY SPOTLIGHT!!!" really rubbed me wrong during the psychic TV show). And honestly, the press was justified (we just don't see it that way as much bc we like R and see a lot of the story via his perspective). press 1000% should put the screws to scammers/frauds/liars/generally scummy behaving people and make their lives miserable, put them on blast and publicly out and discredit them...hell i wish they would actually even try to do that irl with the worst human/liar/scammer who deserves worse than the treatment Reigen was getting... Anywayyyy, after Mob saved his ass again, he could've taken the high road, understood his culpability, which he was just reflecting on, and just walked out without saying a word. That would've had the same impact in restoring his credibility. Instead he just had to get nasty and enjoy/mess w the reporters literally fearing for their lives. That is not being a good person period. Maybe if the press's actions weren't completely unjustified, I could give him a tiny bit more leeway... but dude. its bc your own greedy/vain/deceitful behavior. On the flip side, i do think he was being genuine when he spoke to Mob during the interview, and I dont think he was expecting anything or asking for help. Idk I could be wrong. Would like to hear the views/thoughts on that from someone with a lot of insight/knowledge on the show.

I think if you have known someone long enough, especially if that someone is significantly younger than you (and depends on you), it is imperative that you redefine your relationship once in a while and let your relationship evolve and change and grow from that. Maybe I’m wearing parent (and older sibling lolol) googles lol, but for me it is HARD work to reevaluate what my children (or siblings) actually need as they grow and mature and become more independent so I don’t hold them back while still providing them with that stability they can trust and fall back on when they need it. Reigen is stuck a few years in the past, both in regards to himself and with Mob, and now that Mob is changing their relationship needs to change as well. Mob realized this, Reigen did not and so he fumbled some of their recent interactions hard before he got a wake up call. It happens. Change takes time, growth takes time and I think they are on a solid path forward to change their relationship for the better. The only (tiny!) problem I have with the show is that SOMETIMES Mob is really too mature for his age lol, a typical teenager would have exploited that fumble a bit more, but I guess Mob is not a typical teenager lol.

I think the self-reflection before Reigen's message to Mob shows that it was genuine and not self-serving. And it was just good karma coming back around with Mob hearing it and deciding to help him out. So yeah I don't read it as shady at all, and we even get Reigen willing to come clean to Mob at the end which suggests a less manipulative version of himself going forward. Not perfect, but realistic imo. But I dunno, maybe I just love Reigen too much haha

Helpy

Meh I don’t think he was relishing the moment he just understood what Mob was doing and knew they weren’t in danger so he used the moment accordingly, nothing crazy. I just think people are a bit harsh on Reigen because he’s shady but if you’ve seen the entire show he’s clearly a good person, no one is perfect though.

Lixien

I would agree if Reigen was this "Ultimate Evil" or the media was trying to bring justice. But they're both not true. They emphasize a lot that, while Reigen is deceiving people, he's still, in a way solving their problems. And by the look of it his services are not even expensive. He's like helping someone that think that they're cursed except they're just dehydrated by selling them "magic water". That's kinda what Reigen is imo. And while that's not completely fine, I don't think he deserves the situation he's in and being treated like the Ultimate evil like the media is trying to make him look like. His only true sin imo and the thing he kinda deserves a bad karma for is something that only started when he worked with Mob which is taking advantage of Mob himself. In a way, while he did good thijgs for him, he's also the one that he negatively affected the most out of this whole scam. And he already started adressing that here and (spoiler) in the future. But... this is irrelevant to the media. They're not bringing him down because he's taking advantage of Mob, they're just doing it because they want bring someone down for the sake of a "new story". Reigen is still a victim in this situation so I honestly think that he's completely in the right position to have a bad attitute and act snarky with them. They're still spreading lies about him, to make him look worse than he is. I would even go as far to say that they deserve more shit than what he's getting. And sure, he brought this situation upon himself, but that's like someone walking continuosly into a back alley and getting stabbed. They got into that situation, but they dont really deserve to get stabbed, the one that deserves punishment is the one with the knife. Like, let's take Mob out of the equation. He was completely capable of getting into this position without Mob. So, if he was somehow exposed, can we say that that he deserved being treated like this? I think the scene of Mob helping him is less about Reigen being the hero and more about shitting on the reporters which I'm completely fine with.

na

I feel you on a good bit of that, but its not so much that I have a massive issue with Reigen's relationship with Mob (a bit shitty how he treats Mob at times, but he's also been there for Mob in big moments)... its more so that the media is somewhat justified for putting Reigen on blast bc he was caught red handed on live TV being a scam artist on the psychic TV show thing that started his whole public downfall. They obviously go too far, and don't approach him from any position of genuinely wanting to hear his side of things which is shitty. All of this is also in context of things up to this point.

Wsgyan

Yes reigen didn’t really apologize but they misinterpreted most of it he didn’t tell mob he grew up just to get some help he was genuine and mob happened to be there are hear what he said and just decided to help that’s it
