Yet another thank you and a sneak peak at future plans (Patreon)

 It's Christmas eve and I made a BIG post on tumblr, you can read the whole thing here. 

But I'm posting the Patreon-relevant parts here.

I want to thank you, once again, for supporting me and making this Patreon a success.

A lot of the fact I was able to keep pushing forward was in large part because of you guys, because of my mutuals and online friends- I know I wasn’t always good at replying and I get overwhelmed easily, but every show of support and encouragement meant a lot to me. The fact a lot of you guys care what I have to say at all, or enjoy my work, was the only thing keeping me feeling like I should keep pushing forward with writing at times. Like I did have something of value to contribute to the world, like I’m not meaningless.

I was so nervous when I started the Patreon- that not even one person would sign up. That I’d do this and get a resounding rejection, telling me I was thinking too highly of myself. But I got many people signing up. We even reached our first goal. Now I’m able to devote myself to giving you guys extra content without guilt, because I am striving to live up to people who made an investment, and that’s a lot different from just goofing off, though I love doing that too. It gives me a drive.

I want to be able to give you guys more, and I want to try new things with both this blog, my patreon, and my career in general. Looking into the new year, I have a couple concrete ideas how to expand, mainly I think I’m going to try to give a video essay a shot- IF I can figure out a way to get it funded. I’ll probably make it a patreon tier or something and see who’s up for it. I’m also going to try to really refine the tiers and goals and make everyone participating feel more like they’re part of a community.
