Hey gang,

More setup today, spent some time coloring the cameras/setting up yet another camera angle for the course. Had singing lesson (working on "Don't wanna miss a thing" lol) and did some chores/planning.

Jonas is booked for finishing up the Levels of Bohemian Rhapsody edit, but that'll drop in a couple weeks.

Did some music production stuff as well, and thinking about what kinda songwriting videos could be interesting on the channel. Let me know what kinda songwriting stuff you'd be excited about! Collabs with other creators? Some kinda theme that has to do with something you like or feel? Let me know!

The set up looks great! Love the two cams filming diff angles at once 😎 very fancy. I have no idea for collabs lmao I don't watch many youtubers anymore, at least not ones you'd collab with other than Jazza and maybe Steven He 😅 I'm the worst at ideas but I came up with learning magic (when you posted wanting ideas before holiday) for x amount of time and documenting the journey and maybe finding another influencer who could mentor you one day and give you a crash course etc 🎩🪄🔮✨️ Oh! and there was this device I saw awhile back that like you attach to a plant 🌿 and it plays music and each type of plant has a different "song" and I thought it would be rad to use it to create a song or songs with 🌱🌻

Hi. New angle looks cool. Have a great rest of your night.

Dannielle O'Neill

Looking good with the setup. Do you think you'll put a little mention or sneak peek of the course in a video or two just to get the people interested? (Further down the line obviously. ) ETA (I commented it on Godz too, but): OOOOOOOOOOooooo!!!!! Reverse of character design/art design...have someone do an art piece and make a song based on that! If they were small pieces, it could be short songs (like the comment ones). If you wanted to do a longer song it could be something else. Obviously. So many variations.

Ave Castruita

Look at you adulting while having fun!!! 😉 Everything looks great! Abracito.

emy

For the songwriting videos, what about having a lot of collaborators working on parts of a single song and passing it along? Or setting up challenges or dares for the next creator to work on it and pass it back and forth? Maybe riskier cause you wouldn’t be able to control the song’s outcome, but it’s always super interesting to see how differently people work - especially when there’s funny drama hehe

Lianne Conroy

I liked the writing songs with the live stream. Or what about doing a writing a song in 60 minutes like you used to do? Or the chaos of writing a song with the live stream in 60 minutes?

Stephanie Bruso

You look so cute. Aww. I get worried about accidentally copyrighting a song. So many artist are being sue for copyright. I wrote you two original songs, but I don’t think they were good honestly. I have so many ideas for songs, but it’s sad because I don’t understand music to write then.

Aubrey Danielle

Idk if you’d like filming this style (also, I think you’re friends with this creator? Lol) but he showed how to make a song sound like Taylor Swift. I think it’s a cool concept to learn how to make a song that sounds like my favorite artist. This is the video I’m referencing - https://youtu.be/7_cmSbb3gC4

Clair (Teampanda)

Yipppeee you've finished the levels song, was this the one you weren't stoked about? Good thing about Bohemian Rhapsody is it has many sections to pick from for a levels video, hopefully the wrong Freddy was used and you dressed up as FNAF! Collab wise I suppose it depends on how deep you're going into the song lyric journey, are we talking Max Martin masterclass? Would you singing coach ever be up for us watching your progress on a song with them and discussing techniques and tips for being the next Joel B??

Or randomly generated obstacles would be interesting too 😬

The setup is looking very smooth and clean, the last photo is sending me on a trip though! 😂 I have to say, I really enjoyed when you decided to deep dive on the songwriting videos last year and went into more detail about your writing process so something along those lines where people can see the method to the madness might work? It’s both personality and music based that way? 😊 Hope you’ve got your feet up now and enjoying some downtime, sounds like you’ve been super busy!

CK DeP

That's awesome to hear Joel! Yayyy, finally we get to see/hear the Bohemian Rhapsody!! Also Yay for Jonas!! Very happy for him & Bianca btws! :) Not for the songwriting vids, I would love to see a mixture of both collaborations & breaking down a song that you've done or are doing in like less an hour or something. Kinda like what you've done in past of your videos like where you broke down for So Selfish or how you made your song Breathe thru using Aerodrums , or the video you made to your song Own You less than an hour or so. :) Basically anything you like, I'll love it either way, you do you Joel! :) Very excited to see what's to come!! :)

Excited to finally see the levels video! As for a songwriting/collab video, might be fun to give 2 or 3 people the same instrumental but everyone has to write their own lyrics and see which one turns out the best. Would be interesting to see how many directions a song could be taken in!

CK DeP

Jonas is back editing yay!! Also congratulations on both their engagements 👏 ❤️ For songwriting videos, I'm thinking just basically what you wanna do lol like for example when you used to break down each parts of song and beats, etc. Then you made the lyrics , bam there's a song lol Or maybe make it more complex in a way (since it's for a songwriting challenge & all) lol Would like to see you or whoever is going to be involved in songwriting challenges unless it's only you, take a risk and make it harder to use certain types of like tunings or auto tunes, certain types of synth beats, etc. And so on. But that's my opinion, of course you don't have to follow my suggestions but yeah, if not that's completely fine and you do you Joel! :) Whatever works with you, no matter what you do for these videos, I'll enjoy them either way! :)

CK DeP

Haha yep gotta do those "adulting" stuff somehow lol Going shopping, putting groceries away, doing dishes or laundry, etc. Pain in the butt, worth it tho 🤣 How's your U.S visa doing btws? Also very random but don't you also have to pay for your Tesla car payments & such or no. I'm only asking that question due to my parents needs to re-new their license plates or something so idk if that's also aprt of car registrations, payments. @Roomie

loonylovesgood

Ooh, the Levels video is coming? Sweet!! I really enjoyed the songwriting videos where you guys did “parodies.” But maybe I’m just setting myself up for more songs about pee….😬

Airyckah Lane

Ohh! Decided on the Queen levels after all? Yay! Songwriting… 🤔 would love to learn more on how to not get stuck on the same rhyming patterns.. or feeling like you always need to rhyme. And how to be less “wordy” when writing. Those would be helpful, I think

Mari
>>106326187

lmao I was living for ALL the songs about pee 🤣🤣🤣 the freaking best

Airyckah Lane
>>106326246

And I dunno if this counts as “songwriting”, but I asked you before about how to go about doing a cover and publishing it. But what about if you’re doing a cover of someone else’s song…. But they don’t have it published anywhere that you can find (I can give an example if you need, but not publicly here)? Is there copyright laws or just in general “unwritten rules” for stuff like that? I think those things that scare new musicians from trying things would be a great topic to cover as well.

xtina 🖤

Looks great! For song writing videos I would love to see you complete a song you did with Baasik and story tell the process. Or I would love if you worked with good TikTok song writers or indie artists. However, if you do a collab on making a song whether it’s a song made together or a feature or a challenge against each other, can we please get a full song out of it that we can stream? Even if it has to be a part two video to reveal the finished song? I felt myself wanting more or complete versions of the last song writing challenges. Can’t wait for what ya come up with!

emy
>>106325381

Thanks Miriam! I think other people on here have mentioned similar ideas too. Could set the challenges/obstacles to be related to current pop culture stuff, or maybe crowdsource weird ideas from us 😂

Green Warrior

I would like to see songwriting videos with real song you have the intent of publishing, rather than funny ploy song 😊 It would also be fun to see another 'making a song in an hour'-video, either with Jonas and August or with some other creator. But preferably the bois 😉

Adina

You could try a video where you use chatgpt to write a song. I think there is a lot of interest around chatgpt now, it could translate to views. I think I am in the minority here but l would like to see you making videos on your own for a bit. I’ll be looking forward for both the commentary and the levels videos.

Melinda Young

The setup looks great. Looking forward to the levels video.

Cas

Oooh, collabs would be fun. What if one person writes the lyrics and the other the music? That way the collab could be with a non-musician. Or, if a songwriter then you could flip as well. This one is totally crazy but what if you got a cat to walk on your keyboard as inspiration. Not sure what to feel about the coloring of this set-up. Last time you wanted colorful and this time sepia. Does the coloring, lighting and camera angle make a big difference with regard to viewer's enjoyment? Are you just trying to set a style for a specific type of video? Looking forward to the levels video. Glad you decided to release it. PS. There is a YouTube Channel called There I Ruined It that does comedy mashups that you might want to look into: https://www.youtube.com/@thereiruinedit. Some are epic.

1. If you want people mostly to listen to you while watching your course, then colours+outfit choice is good. If you want people to see you too, imho outfit choice or/and colour scheme isn’t the best as you’re blending in too much. My opinion is just based on the picture that you’ve shared. 2. I like your songwriting videos a lot so maybe you can do something like finish the song that another person started. 3. I stopped watching Youtube lately in general so any collabs will be about the same for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

I apologise for being wordy. As Ashley once said “Here’s a 🍪 for you” if you finished up reading my comment 😅

Blue Pixel Productions

I see normally when you collaborate with others, it's mostly reacting to things, a competition in song writing, or a duet. Why not do a collab where you work with a content creator to make a song from scratch together? And record the whole process. Another idea is writing songs based on an interesting/funny story your collaborator has experienced in their life, and they write a song based on an interesting/funny moment in your life too. I think almost everyone loves hearing stories you, Jonas and August have, so this could work.

JustSomeJK

That setup looks good & stylish 🙂 I'm sensing a little bit of tweaking here 🤔😁 But I get it, u want to make quality stuff. People are probably so excited about ur course that they won't notice the colors too much though 🙂 If it was Aerosmith's Don't wanna miss a thing, then I wish I could have been a fly on the wall on that training session 😊 That's such a cheesy and beautiful song and especially if u were using the rockier sound on ur voice, it was probably really cool 🙂 I'm excited that u didn't throw away the Levels video, can't wait to see it 🙂 There's many good ideas on the comments already 🙂 My first thought was wheel of doom 😆 Jonas has had this wheel of punishments on his streams, but in songwriting purpose there could be 1-3 wheels with sections like: music genre, types of songs, topics for lyrics, purpose for the song, feeling, words that has to be included in the song, instruments, sounds from everyday gadgets etc. Or it could be more music nerdy wheel with smarter sections of notes, melodies, rythms, beats whatever 😅 Or maybe u have done something like this already, I haven't seen all of your videos yet 😁 Those songwriting videos u have made have been so much fun and some really nice songs have come out of those! Also We fix famous songs (try not to laugh) should have a sequel, u guys laughing is so contagious 😂 Since I'm a boomer, songwriting video with piano ballads or 80s 90s rock ballads would be nice 😆 But I don't know how popular that would be 😅 Wedding song for Jonas & Bianca 😊 Songs for different moods or for relaxing or falling asleep etc. Sorry for this long rambling 🫣 Probably not helping too much 😂 I hope u have a fantastic Friday 😊💙

Aubrey Danielle
>>106369093

A songwriting wheel would be SO FUN & maybe a little chaotic but will make good for entertainment 😅😂🎶🙌🏼

JustSomeJK
>>106369093

Thanks Aubrey 🙂 (extra thanks for not calling me grandma 😅😂) Yeah it could probably be quite chaotic, I guess it depends on who decides the sections on the wheel and who participates on the challenge 😂 But it could be interesting or at least entertaining like u said 😁

emy
>>106369093

Yes! 🙌 Wheel of Songwriting Punishments™️ 😂😂😂

JustSomeJK
>>106369093

Haha yeah 😂 Wheel could work on ur idea too emy, that could decide who continues on what part of whose song etc. 🤪 I didn't mean the wheel as punishment for Joel btw, but I guess it could feel like it, if getting really sucky options 😅😂

JustSomeJK
>>106369093

Oh no, I'm soo stupid, why did I remind u of it 😖 You need your own wheel of punishments and doom Aubrey 😝😂

emy
>>106369093

Hehe this could be soo funny! I know Joel has said in the past he doesn’t want the songs themselves to be jokes. But adding that element of chaos could make really exciting songs! The wheel prompts/obstacles/punishments would just have to be pre-chosen carefully to bring the writers out of their element in an inspiring, rather than limiting, way

JustSomeJK
>>106369093

Yeah I would rather have wheel with actually usable options, that would create good songs, than going totally nuts with it just for laughs 🙂 But we'll see what Joel wants to do and what ideas he already has 🙂

Bookdragon 43

Love your setup for your songwriting course!! So excited for your levels video😊 Songwriting challenges-- Writing songs in Swedish!!

Melissa Rogers
>>106326187

🎶 “And now I may pee, into my pants. I was getting kinda used to being someone with dry pants.”🎶 I freaking LOVE that video!! Busted a gut from laughing so hard!! **Thank you, Swedish Bois!!** 😆😜😆😜

Melissa Rogers
>>106369093

Maybe two separate types of wheels…one with different inspirational themes/moods, etc. for serious songs. But another for when he (or they…if a collaboration) is in a chaotic/silly mood.
