So awesome! I've waited for you to do something like this for a long time. The setup is great and you sound wonderful. It's very intimate and shows a little more of your music process. Do you think you'll post videos of you in the "process" of making songs as well? This is obviously just a bit of the song, but I like watching people as they create without any commentary? (I like the commentary, but it's a different feel when there isn't any) and think that'd be amazing to watch.

My initial idea is this: focus on making scaled down music focused on melody and lyrics, and posting often. Then taking my favorites from that, make into full versions, send to a producer to "dress up", and make a video talking about the process behind it. These songs will all have interesting concepts behind them (this one is inspired by a specific social media post I saw, which I will get into if I include it in a future dressed up video)

I think that's kind of what I was thinking, but more in your style. I'm a writer, so I tend to love the creative prospect. I love the more dressed down versions; however, what can be done with production is incredible and usually blows my mind. It sounds like a great way to progress on what you've been working towards! Oh, and (going to shoot my shot here), if you need an inspirational lyrics or two, I'm always here. Otherwise, look forward to seeing what comes next! ( It was going to bother me until I posted it in the right area.)

It flows, it has that ummph, strong emotions. Really enjoyed this, enjoyed you flexing that higher register that you have been working on. It is nice and strong tonal quality. The song sounds great, I really like this idea of just coming and singing a piece of a song when you feel like it. But, at least for me youtube just started pushing Roomie Official content again, the videos were not in my recommended for a couple of years, and now one in every 5 recommendations is a RO video. So why not publish whatever you are working on on the main channel?

It’s something I’ve thought about - I just think the audiences are a little bit different. For now the important thing is to get started with this, I’m also filming normal commentary content that’ll go on the main. My experience is that there’s a lot of people on the main channel who aren’t interested in songwriting content, mainly pop music commentary, and anecdotally mixed audiences seem to hold channels back a bit. I also don’t want too many underperforming videos on the main channel because that may detract sponsors, which for now are my main income source :)

I think there’s a massive opportunity for songwriting content, it’s super under-optimized, but ye it’s different. I’ve transitioned audiences in the past, but the algorithm is a bit more centered around catering to a very specific audience recently so splitting up commentary and songwriting is what I’m gonna start with, perhaps with some songwriting ones every once in a while on the main. I think the songwriting videos I did with Jonas & August were pretty cool, but being on the channelmight actually have held them back. There’s realities around getting views/money I need to weigh when doing these things, so for now it’s separate

There’s some pretty interesting examples of travel channels centered around a certain area for example, shifting to another area on the same channel and views plummeting. Then they made a fresh channel and abandoned the old one (not that I’m planning to do that) and they blew up bigger than ever. In 2023 “channels” should be thought of more like “shows” imo

It’s a different style you picked up on! I’ve listened a lot to artists that are a bit looser and more speaking rhythmically recently, who also write better/more poetic lyrics. I’ll make all kinds of songs on that channel

I was only thinking about it from the perspective of the chance of video being shown to a larger audience, but I wasn't thinking about the impact of lower performing videos on both what the algorithm decides to do on other future videos and on brands decision regarding sponsorships. Thanks for explaining, it is really interesting to me at least, and it helps me understand some of your decisions regarding content.

I think having a separate channel for this is a really good idea. I've done content pages before and when it's a lot of mixed content it doesn't tend to do as well. People who are very interested in a particular topic want that topic and only that, so they will likely lose interest if you don't continue just that content. I think it's smart to start a new page and once it gets going incorporate it into the other one while still doing your other videos. Obviously, there's die hard fans that want to watch whatever you make; but, others don't care about commentary or anything else and would rather just see this side of you. You're accommodating both sides. Perhaps more work for you, so just don't burn yourself out; but, it's a great new adventure.

Still sticking to my thought. Buying things feels like love to oneself. To stop how it satisfies that need is still based in how you show love to yourself and others. I appreciate all the comments. Thank you Joel, but it is as simple as I've stated. Love is about positive energy. If shopping provides the euphoric feeling of love, then it's hard to stop. Admitting that, then trying to find another activity to provide that same euphoric (loving) feeling is your solution. I understand, even though I'm not into shopping as many people are. When I need to feel better, I prefer to be alone and pray. I hope this explains my opinion better.😘😘😘
