Pamela Isley was born in Seattle to academic parents who nurtured her love for nature from a young age. She excelled in her studies, particularly in botany and biochemistry, and pursued her passion at Gotham University. There, she studied under the esteemed Dr. Jason Woodrue, who recognized her potential and involved her in his groundbreaking research.

However, Dr. Woodrue's ambitions were far from ethical. He manipulated Pamela into participating in a dangerous experiment, injecting her with a serum made from plant toxins. The serum transformed her, giving her green-tinted skin and a unique connection to plant life, but left her severely poisoned and fighting for survival. Pamela emerged from the ordeal with the ability to control plants and an immunity to toxins.

Betrayed and enraged by Woodrue's actions, Pamela adopted the alias Poison Ivy. She retreated to Gotham City's botanical gardens, where she used her newfound powers to create a sanctuary for plants and plan her revenge against those who harmed the environment. Poison Ivy's attacks on corporations and individuals responsible for ecological destruction quickly drew the attention of Batman and Gotham's underworld.

Despite her criminal activities, Poison Ivy's motives were rooted in her love for nature and her desire to protect it from humanity's greed. Her complex relationship with Batman, who saw potential for redemption in her, and her close friendship with Harley Quinn, another of Gotham's infamous villains, added layers to her character.

Over time, Poison Ivy evolved from a vengeful eco-terrorist to a more nuanced anti-heroine, often finding herself in alliances with heroes when their goals aligned. Her journey from brilliant botanist to powerful protector of the natural world is a testament to her resilience and the complexities of her morality.
