The idea of Nude in Public has been floating around in Ingo’s and my minds for quite a while now. It started with moods that leaned more toward Fashion Nude in Public. Over time, more and more moods emerged that felt more random and, precisely because of that, a bit more voyeuristic, for lack of a better word. While I found these moods incredibly cool and still do, something inside me resisted actually trying it out.

A trench coat, lingerie, and heels? No problem, I would have been in immediately. But the thought of being naked or even partially naked in public clashes strongly with my desire not to stand out and not to disturb other people. What I do within my own four walls is one thing. Placing my naked body in a public space, however, feels to me like both ignoring social conventions and imposing my nudity on people who simply want to walk around or shop without being bothered.

That is also why, whenever Ingo and I talked about Nude in Public, we mostly discussed settings that look public but where there are ultimately no people, such as picnic areas. Over the past few days, the topic came up much more frequently, sometimes seriously, sometimes jokingly. We kept taking the camera with us, along with a suitable top, but in the end we mutually decided against it every single time. Until yesterday.

We were sitting in the outdoor area of a restaurant, and by the way, the tapas there were unbelievably good. We were the only guests, the waitress spent several minutes at a time inside, and Ingo casually mentioned how incredible the light was. Looking back, the whole “shoot”, if you can even call it that, was somehow quite funny. Without contact lenses and without my glasses, I could only vaguely make out whether the waitress or passersby were approaching. At the same time, I had to focus on looking relaxed, tapas kept being brought to our table, and we were just eating in between.

I am sure that next time, with contact lenses, it will feel much more relaxed. But even this time, I am genuinely happy with the results. Afterward, we walked through the city and took a few shots in the small alleyways of Marbella. There are only a handful of usable images from that part, mainly because my facial expression looks very alert, since there were actually quite a few people around.

In contrast, I felt much more relaxed again during our session at the beach afterward, even though there were a lot of people there. Still, it felt far more anonymous, because most people were simply there to unwind and were more focused on themselves.

All in all, this was probably not my last excursion into this genre. Whether it will ever become one of my favorites is something I cannot say yet. What remains important to me is not disturbing other people in public spaces where nudity is not expected. I am also not someone who enjoys breaking rules or violating laws. What exactly draws me to Nude in Public is therefore still not entirely clear to me. Maybe it is simply about trying something new and has less to do with the genre itself than I initially thought.

I really loved this when you posted it on Insta and I love it now too! I didn’t read your lens-free pose as intense. You seemed focused on a thought you couldn’t quite pin down; has an air of Mona Lisa mystery about it. The light is beautiful, the pose is perfect. You really did well! And that’s before I realized how bold you were being! Glad you’re exploring your creative limits!

Thank you so much for the feedback, that means a lot 😊🙏🏻 Glad that I don’t come across as intense - I definitely was more relaxed during this part of the shoot because Ingo “scouted” the inside of the restaurant, and told me that’s impossible for the waitress to see us 🤣

Wow 😍😍😍😍😍
