Hi all,

The new video is up, and it's a big one: Need Your Love So Bad by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. This is one of the videos that I had to remake, but I actually think, second time around, it's a bit better and more comprehensive. I've gone through the whole tune, the intro solo note for note, the chord progression, some rhythm guitar ideas, and how you might approach soloing over the changes.

As always, I've tabbed everything out, and there's a backing track too (this is just the main 8-bar progression, no bridge.)

As a complement to this video, you might like to check out my BB Box lesson that I did a while back, which contains a much more detailed exploration of this essential blues guitar concept. Check it out here - https://www.patreon.com/anyonecanplayguitar/posts/blues-soloing-bb-33224726

Speak soon,

Need Your Love So Bad - Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac | Solo, Rhythm and Improvising Ideas

Need Your Love So Bad is one of the great slow blues ballads, and Peter Green's playing on the Fleetwood Mac version is a big part of why. In this lesson I cover the whole tune: the introductory solo note for note, the chord progression and how to think about it in numbers, some rhythm guitar approaches, and some ideas for soloing and improvising over these changes. The tune was originally written and recorded by Little Willie John, but the Fleetwood Mac version is the one guitar players know, largely down to Green's playing. We start with the opening solo, working out of the BB box around the 10th position, then break down the chord progression and how it works, before moving into rhythm guitar ideas (bar chords, arpeggios, connecting lines, fills) and finally some thoughts on improvising over the changes, including minor and major pentatonic options, and how to target chord tones. Full tabs for the intro solo, my rhythm part, and my solo, plus an original backing track, are up on Patreon: patreon.com/anyonecanplayguitar Guitar today is an Ivison Dakota, on loan from Tim Forster Guitars, through a Marshall Studio Vintage. Everytime I try to go to bb box lesson it tells me to upgrade

Fuzztronica

Are you picking with your fingers on this one? Killer solo. Have we seen this guitar before?

Ignatz Maus

Thank you for this. Learning the Blues is such an inspiration.

Glen Maupin

Listen to the US version. No strings and a longer solo. Maybe the bluesy-ist song ever!

Chester Burnett

Adrian, What great playing (as usual) on this song. I look forward to learning some licks, etc. Thanks for your hard work on this excellent lesson.

Yes, Adrian! Been waiting for this for some time. I’m away for a week but am looking forward to getting stuck into this when I get home.

Hi Adrian - what a start to the academic year. First 'Alison' and then 'Need Your Love So Bad' - two of my absolute faves and both executed brilliantly. Can't wait to see/hear what you've got next in store for us.

Thanks Adrian I noticed you used the Ox on this one. Do you use it for recording or just attenuating the volume? regards Joe

Did you manage to get this figured out? You should have full access to all the lessons.

No, I'm mostly using a pick with this one, though there's a little bit of hybrid picking going on. First time I've used this guitar in a video. There's a bit of information about it towards the end. It's a fabulous guitar. I'm actually thinking about keeping it.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, I'll have to check that out. I've probably heard it before, but there do seem to be quite a few different versions of this floating around and I get confused as to which is which!

Mostly, I just use it for attenuation and then mic up the guitar amp as usual when I'm making my videos. But it's great for direct recording too, and that is something I have experimented with. The microphone and cabinet simulations are fantastic.

Yes I got it another membership is the problem I'm loving your classes
