Morning all! I get quite a lot of requests to look at Cure songs, and I've finally gotten around to it. This is a classic early Cure track taken from their second album 17 Seconds. Some easy but interesting riffs, lots of flanger. Tab and link to the video below. Backing track to follow in another post.

I have the same Flanger but have never used one any one know the settings?

I can't remember the exact setting - I should have taken a picture! My policy with pedals is just to play around with the controls until it sounds good. I'd say start with everything at 12 o'clock. It has quite a slow sweep, so try rate maybe 10 o'clock? Adjust to taste because the pedal will react differently to different guitars and amps. Hope that helps a bit! Play around for long enough and you'll get it, you really can't go wrong with the BF2, I love mine.

Was the backing track ever posted?

Hi A! Love your lesson, i finally cracked the solo thanks to you.

Arg..i hit the post button. I have a quick question. There is a small part of the guitar i dont think you included in the lesson.. Maybe its a second guitar that plays it, I dont know.. Its the small part thats played 2 bars before the vocals set in. I usually play it on the A and D string.. It should be played en the low E and A i presume. Do you know where and how to do that? Anyways, thanks a lot for this vid!!

Thanks Birdie, glad to hear you've got this one together! Yes, just had a listen. I think it's a second guitar part, playing some very delicate single notes. Quite hard to hear exactly what's going on as it's mixed so low. Sounds like 7 on the D, 5 on the G, then 5 to 4 on the D. If you're playing your own I'd stick to the main parts, but if you have a send guitar you could add it in. Hope that helps!
