Evening all! This week's video continues the Les Paul theme with a look at a T.Rex classic. There's a lovely riff, some inventive rhythm playing and a surprisingly tasty solo.

The tab and backing can be found below. I've written out the main parts, the solo and included a few of my favourite lead guitar fills. The backing follows the arrangement of the original.

Have fun learning it! Speak next week,

Adrian

This was another gaping hole in my background. I'd heard of T. Rex for decades, but somehow had remained totally unfamiliar with their music. I listened to the song and part of the album online today. Great song! And what I heard of the rest of the album also sounded very nice. I'll be spending some time with T. Rex, and then move on your lesson....

Yes, well worth getting into a bit of T Rex. I think Bolan was always overshadowed by Bowie, and considered more lightweight and less of an 'artist'. May be some truth in that, but he could certainly write some great songs made some great records.

Well, I don't envy anyone having to compete with Bowie for the limelight! Anyway, was at Amoeba Records in Berkeley today and finally picked up a copy of Electric Warrior.

Would you consider doing a lesson on Ballrooms of Mars - or 20th Century Boy? I would love that!

Yes, I'd love to do a bit more T Rex. Both songs excellent choices - I'll see what I can do later this year!
