Morning all! I've had few requests for more acoustic videos, so this week I'm bringing you a nice little fingerstyle  blues piece. I've tried to keep things approachable for most players. The 1st chorus is quite simple, the 2nd a bit more challenging.

Here's the link: https://youtu.be/Ywdz3SXtYuY

You can find the tab attached below. I think the music and tab can be particularly helpful when learning pieces like this since you can clearly see the relationship between the bass and treble parts, or the thumb and fingers.

Hope you enjoy learning. Let me know below if you have any questions or if there's anything I can help you with.

Speak next week,

Adrian

This sounds good for us 'I've only got one guitar and it's an acoustic' players. Thanks Adrian

Chris Kueny

Thanks!! I've really enjoyed your fingerstyle lessons. My renditions still need some work, but I've gotten at least a partial handle on several pieces that looked bewildering at first. And for me, working on these pieces is the perfect thing for these stressful days (writing from the U.S.A.). It takes my whole brain to focus on these finger patterns, and it's really a meditative activity to try to get them down.

richard brown

sweet arrangement loves me some fingerstyle blues

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, I agree there's definitely something meditative about getting some of those fingerstyle patterns down. Perfect for these stressful times!

richard brown

Just came across your “ more creative rhythm guitar“

richard brown

You are a gifted teacher, thank you

Chris Kueny

Ha funny you mention that one--I've just returned to that lesson and today's guitar practice consisted mostly of that. It was the most satisfying practice I've had in a while; although I've still got a ways to go, I was happy to feel some of the pieces making much more sense. An older, related lesson is "Rock Soloing with the Major Pentatonic Scale"; the two go well together.

richard brown

will be entertaining to play the two together as one piece

Bryan Both

I've been off blues for a while but this made it fun again. Also a fan of solo arrangements so thanks twice.

Chris Kueny

Ha, that's my problem, I've been working on both of these, and I keep forgetting which one I'm doing.

Christian Lewis

Hi Adrian. Thanks for a really good piece. What is the .gp file for?

El Scotto

That's a Guitar Pro file

anyonecanplayguitar

Hi Christian. Yes, as Scott says, it's a Guitar Pro file. If you have Guitar Pro software (or a freeware equivalent) you'll be able to open the file and play back the tab, change speed, edit etc. It can be a helpful practice tool. The tab itself is identical to what you see in the PDF though.

Christian Lewis

Thank you for your reply. Yes it is indeed a very good way of practicing. I have downloaded and installed Guitar Pro and uit works very well with the .gp files you have available for download.

El Scotto

I love this piece so much, this is the exactly the sort of thing I aspire to play more than anything else and I'm working my ass off trying to pull it together but its incredibly challenging. Adrian, if you have any more tips on how to improve thumb/fingerstyle coordination I'd greatly appreciate it!

anyonecanplayguitar

Glad you like it Scott. Do stick with it, it's not at all easy, but with practice it will come together. I'd recommend breaking it down into very small sections and working on getting them perfect at a slow tempo, speeding up when you're ready. I'm going to have a think about designing some exercises to help with the coordination in pieces such as this one - maybe I'll work them up into a future video.

El Scotto

Some coordination exercises would be amazing, thanks for your support Adrian.

John galloway

Really am enjoying this standalone pice. Lightbulbs going off. Really sounds good. Would it be possible to post others like this and maybe in different keys? That would be appreciated. Thank you. John.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks John, glad you found this helpful and enjoyable. Yes, I will certainly try and do more of this kind of thing later in the year. Like the idea of doing it in some different keys too.

David Douglas

Hey Adrian, I hope you and your family are all doing well in the strange days. I finally sprung for a bit of coin on your patron page. I sure do appreciate your work and instruction. I really like this acoustic blues type stuff. I'm probably driving my wife nuts with the Robert Johnson inspired lesson! Just kidding she actually really likes it. 🤠 Thanks for giving us this recent acoustic blues lesson, great stuff! Working on it now.

David Douglas

This thing keeps sending the post before I want it to. Probably just human error on my part. Anyway, take care, Your ol' pal, Dave in the Adirondacks

anyonecanplayguitar

Hi David! Yes, if you hit return key the message sends, annoying! Great to have you on board here. Thanks for the support. Glad you like the acoustic blues lessons, will try and keep some more of those coming later this year.
