Hello all! This week, another Improv Session. For this one, I'm playing over a Johnny Cash-inspired backing track. There are lots of soloing tips and tricks - scale options, bending ideas, licks...

Here's the link: https://youtu.be/Be6ioXGaaA8

I didn't want to go into the specifics my own solo in this video, as I wanted to keep the focus on improvising and doing your own thing. However, in case anyone would like a detailed breakdown of what I play at the start of the video, I've transcribed it and will be doing a little Patreon-only video analysis sometime over the next couple of days.

Speak soon,

Adrian

Adrian would like to see the transcription. When do you plan to post that?

hi adrian, my first post since i became a patreon. i studied jazz guitar in college and after 4 years of studying guitar in collega playing became less fun than it used to be. you are making playing the guitar fun again for me, thanks for that! i also recommend your site to my guitar students. all the best. Very good lesson.... builds on some of the other YT lessons focusing on Luther's solo (note for note) with some additional challenge for intermediates who want to build on the basics (including the little hybrid picking deal alternating A major and A7 up at the 9th fret). Thanks, Adrian!!!

Hi Frank! That's good to hear. I've occasionally been through periods where I've not felt motivated or excited to play. It's always important to remind yourself from time to time that it has to be fun!
