Hello all!

Bad news. Sadly there's going to be no new video today. Nothing too serious, but I've been slightly under the weather all week. Just a cold with a sore throat, but I attempted to film earlier in the week and sounded ridiculous. So the exciting new video I had planned will just have to wait until next week.

I'm sure this news will come as a crushing disappointment to many of you, and I hate to ruin anyone's Friday. So...I've got a couple of bonus videos for you from my archives. Back when I did a short series of lessons on early Wire songs, I filmed a couple of extra videos which for one reason or another I didn't put out at the time. I've not watched these back since I made them, so hope they're not too terrible.

We have The 15th -

and French Film Blurred -

I know Wire are one of those bands that aren't to everybody's taste, but I'm a big fan. Both of these are great songs, quite easy to play and would serve as good beginner/early intermediate rhythm guitar workouts. Hope they're of interest to some of you. Tabs below.

I'm actually feeling much better this morning, so will definitely see you for a new video next week. (A new guitar may well be putting in an appearance.)

Speak soon,

Adrian

Kenneth

have watched your Three Girl Rhumba, Mercy and Ex Lion Tamer many times on YouTube but somehow never came across The 15th until I went to the Patreon looking for backing tracks. I have been trying to figure out this and Reuters myself without too much success. Thanks!

Jason Mertell

Love to hear it! Any chance we could get some carter style strum/pick lesson? Maybe a cross picking number even? Rest up , love ya what you’ve been doing 🙏

Thomas Simmons

Wire is one of my favorite bands so this is practice makes perfect for me. Get well soon Adrian.

John

I'm only getting a message saying 'this video is private' and can't be played for both of them. Help!

Thomas Simmons

Oh the links aren't working. Saying videos are private!?!

John

Cheers.

Thomas Simmons

Thank you watching now. That GBV song is Queen of Cans and Jars that sounds similar to The 15th btw.

Benoît Quévat

Hello Adrian, get well soon! I'm not very familiar with Wire so this is the occasion to discover them. Greetings from France, your try at speaking french in the video was not so bad ^^

Richard Tock

Get well soon. Gonna give these a go (and get back to listening to a bit of Wire). Although I've been slowly trying the Parklife video, doing a bit extra each time, trying to speed up. I think that's gonna take a bit of time. I love Graham Coxon's guitar playing, but he's also ridiculous. I've recently been listening to a lot of Jeff Rosenstock and it struck me that it would be the kind of thing you would love. Check out The Internet Is Everywhere, Nausea and We Begged To Explode.

Chris Kueny

Take care of yourself, Adrian! For filler lessons, these were very welcome, as I love Wire as well. The easy riffs are a refresher from some of your more challenging lessons. (Let me put in a plug again for two later Wire albums that I think you should seek out--Send, for radically overdriven frenetic noise, and Red Barked Tree, with some wonderful conventional song structures mixed with Wire's inventivenesss. I would pair RBT with Chairs Missing as the two albums to play for someone new to their music, although Send is the one that actually converted me.) Thanks!

Eric Larsen

I hope it is just a common cold and that you get well soon, Adrian!

Piotr J

Get well soon, Adrian!

Clayton Dexter

Hope you get well soon. Wire is one of my favorite bands so this is still a real treat

Jeff Sims

Funny thing about Wire, I read the title and it means nothing to me, then I hear the first couple of bars and 'Oh yeah, that one, nice'.

Chris Kueny

Ha, yes, a lot of their early songs I've heard a million times now but still don't know which name goes with which song.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Chris. Yes, I did check out Red Barked Tree round about the time I originally did my Wire videos, recommended by someone on here, possibly you. It is indeed an excellent record, and if I decide to do more Wire at some point I think it would be interesting to look at something from that record.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Benoit! I studied French at school and used to be quite good, but I've let it slip and now it's pretty terrible!

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Richard. Yes Coxon's amazing - unique guitar parts, a lot them surprisingly tricky. And thanks for the Jeff Rosenstock suggestion. I know the name but not super familiar with his music - will check out the stuff you mention.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, me too! Actually feeling much better now, so sure it was just a cold.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Clayton. Feeling much better now. Hope you enjoy the Wire videos.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, very true. They love a cryptic song title, and it's hard to associate the titles with the actual song.

Toby

Thanks Adrian, two for the price of one! 154 is one of my favourite albums!

Victor

Feel better Adrian. Thanks for all these.
