Here's my backing to accompany this week's lesson. You can use it to practice the solo or just jam along to it and do your own thing. The C major pentatonic scale will work well throughout. You could mix in some C minor pentatonic too. Or think triads and chord tones. Enjoy playing along!

Such a great mix of styles always takin me out of my comfort zone. Your blues solo on the acoustic is now my go to “trying out a guitar in the guitar store” tune

Thanks Brian. Always important to have a few 'guitar store' tunes at the ready. Glad you've picked one of mine!

HI Adrian, I was wondering if I could add Squeeze-pulling mussels to the list for potential lessons. Great tune and love the lead . Short but says alot. Great lessons as always, David

+2! (Or the solo from Another Nail In My Heart)

David Pollock

Gregory Roath- Another Nail in my heart is the song I meant, thank you . 🙂

Yes, both songs are great, but the solo in Another Nail in my Heart is spectacular. Will have a try learning it myself, and might see if I can do a lesson on it later in the year.

I’m really loving the lessons about music theory. I hate to admit it but I’ve always been a guitar player that struggles with turning theory into great music. The intro to turning scales into solos made me laugh out loud...omg, that’s me! Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for breaking down that theory when you’re teaching us how to play our favorite songs! That said, I’d like to request a lesson on chord progressions and how to break out of some of the common ones we all learn as early guitarists. Thank you for all the amazing love you show us!! 🎸

Thanks David. Glad to hear you've been enjoying the videos. I always try and relate the theory to actual music rather than leaving it as some abstract set of 'rules'. But it's not easy connect the theory and the music. The solo at the start of that video was really me when I first started learning to improvise. Like the chord progression lesson idea - will give that some thought and see what I can come up with.

Jesse Alexander Wilks

hey there - is there a diagram anywhere of the theory here - something across the fretboard? Also amazing less on Adrian - can't speak highly enough about your videos and have recommended them to many friends.

anyonecanplayguitar

Hi Jesse - glad you liked this lesson! Unfortunately, I haven't got any diagrams for this particular lesson, but if I get a chance I'll try and put something together - can see how that might be helpful to many people.

I am new here to the community and enjoy all these great lessons! Please keep them coming. Question on the backing track: any chance you can supply us with 2 backing tracks: one where you play the solo and one with only the music? When I try to learn the solo it may be easier to have one backing track where you play the solo. Thanks, Andre

anyonecanplayguitar

Hi Andre - welcome! Yes, that might be possible if people would find that helpful. I'll try and do that for solo type lessons in the future. Good idea.

Here's my try: https://youtu.be/B3erdywQzik Maybe an idea to share these videos somewhere so members can comment on each others work? Thanks again for your channel and pleae keep the videos coming. Great combination of theory & solos that are difficult yet achievable for the intermediate player.

Sounds great Andre, well done! Nice tone, nice relaxed feel. Yes, I love hearing members playing. If there's enough people interested, I might look into setting up some kind of Patreon members forum, and getting a bit more of a community happening on here.
