Evening all! Finally got today's video uploaded after some processing issues...

So, this week I'm looking at an amazing - if slightly obscure - rockabilly track. If you don't know the track or the band then do take a listen.

Here's a link to the video -

https://youtu.be/fvG5mg2aZcM

I realise it would be something of a commitment to learn the entire track, but feel free to sift through it and grab one to two favourite licks. I've tabbed it all out below. Backing track coming up in the next post.

Enjoy, and speak next week,

Adrian

Fantastic song! Great choice, Adrian. You should really look into the Sadies, if you're not already familiar with them .

Brian Scott

Thank you thank you Adrian! Jim Heath has to be one of the least known monster players of my generation and one of my absolute favorites. You killed this one, and I am going to learn the whole thing if I have to quit my job to do it. Cheers!

CC

Me too!! This is a commitment I can get behind!!!

CC

There is definitely not an over abundance of quality Jim Heath/RHH lessons out there. I hope this is an artist you revisit from time to time! Adrian, thank you very much for this great performance and lesson!! You continue to deliver outstanding content and provide lessons by artists that are very much overlooked and under appreciated (although as you can see here and in the YouTube comments there are many that appreciate him very very much!). I would also add that you have a knack for being able to figure out guitar parts that perhaps others cannot.

Michael Kelly

You do grant wishes! You don't know how happy I am to see you cover the RHH. Just fantastic. Another instrumental worth looking at would be 'Big Sky' off of their third album. Thanks Adrian!

Drew Broomhall

Yeah! Loved the Rev since I bought Full Custom Gospel Sounds in sixth form. I met Jim after their Electric Ballroom gig a few years back, that was a great show. Great selection Adrian and I’d happily hear you do another.

Ian West

Thanks for your hard work, working it all out and transcribing it. Yes, it´s really fun to play

CC

Agreed! Thanks for the hard work figuring this one out, I’m sure it was a labor of love! Not many people can offer quality lessons on the Rev. nor have the skills to figure the tunes out and execute the performance. This was absolutely fantastic!

Thanks Daniele! Know the name, but not really familiar with the Sadies. Where's a good place to start?

anyonecanplayguitar

Haha, thanks Brian! Yes, an awesome player, quite why he's never really come to my attention until recently I don't know.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks CC. Yes, this one's definitely given me a taste for Jim Heath's playing. I'll certainly be checking out his back catalog and if another track stands out as a potential lesson I'll do it.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks Michael. Yes, I'm going to be checking out their back catalog, will certainly check out Big Sky. I wasn't sure how this video would go down, but there's obviously a lot of love for RHH out there. Might well look at another track later in the year.

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, don't know why it's taken my so long to get on board. I'll definitely try and catch them live at the next opportunity. Will think about doing another track later in the year.

anyonecanplayguitar

Thanks! Yes, this was quite a tough and time consuming one to figure out and get together. But absolutely an enjoyable process.

CC

Thanks for the reply Adrian! I am envious that you’re just beginning your RHH journey!! It would be great to experience that for the first time all over again! Isn’t it wonderful when you find an artist you’ve been missing out on and it turns out they have a huge back catalog? Enjoy!

Daniele De Santis

You can really start anywhere, all their records are exceptional. Personal favourites are "Darker Circles" and "Precious moments". You can find a lot of videos on YouTube. Take the Byrds, mix them with Gun Club, add touch of the best garage and surf music to the mix and you have The Sadies. Truly phenomenal band, especially live. Here's a video from some years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtG0w9lGfnc

anyonecanplayguitar

Sounds like a mixture of all my favourite musical things. I will be checking out their music properly this week - thanks!

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, absolutely a great feeling - I love discovering new music I like and taking a deep dive into the artist's back catalogue.

Josh

Thanks so much for this one.

Josh

Another one I'd love to see, in a simlar sound to this song; brian setzer's far noir east

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, I was thinking I might look at some Brian Setzer. Not sure I know this track - I will take a listen, thanks!

Hi, did you ever do the backing track?
