Hello everyone! I thought it was about time I looked at another Joy Division track, so here's my take on their song Disorder.

Here's the link -

We have a great riff and an easy to play solo. I also talk  bit about Peter Hooks iconic bass line. Everything is tabbed out below, and the backing track is coming up in the next post.

Have fun with it, and speak next week,

Adrian

HI Adrian! Excited to learn this. Is there a youtube link?

Melanie Looschelders

Thank you Adrian, tomorrow is my birthday and this is the perfect present 😃

Thanks for another Joy Division track Adrian. Your early Joy Division tracks are what first brought me to you channel all those years ago (well it was actually the Joe 90 one first technically! lol ) I remember you saying that youd mislaid the backing tracks for those, is that still the case? Transmission is still my favourite track ive learnt watching your channel. 👍🏻

Marcelo Magalhães

That was the first song I tried to play when back in 2019 when I started playing the Guitar. The second one was The Goldheart Mountaintop Queen Directory by GBV, a song that I love and found in your video "10 alternative songs for beginners" something like that, I've been following and learning through you channel since that. Disorder is a song that I never get tired of playing, I can play it everyday and feel excited in the solo part, my goal is to play the whole album in sequence. So, thanks and now that I have a proper backing track the song will have new life here and I'll try my phaser and the DL4 to find a similar sound for the riff.

I appreciate that you included both the guitar and bass parts in the lesson video and in the tabs. Awesome! Thanks.

CC makes an awesome point. Having some bass tab and tutorial included sure adds a lot to help and enhance learning for some of us. I recently got my first bass guitar. The bass journey has started off as a anticlimactic dismal start so far. This is a great reboot!

The first thing I do every Saturday morning in Melbourne Australia is to see your weekly lesson in an attempt to break up the monotony of our interminable lockdown. Especially excited today. My partner and I are both beginner guitarists and massive Joy Division fans. And- we have a bass! Our weekend is now sorted- thank you so much! I seem to remember that Barney used an SG quite a lot- is it time for a new guitar Adrian?

CC

Me too on the recent bass acquisition. Good timing apparently!

Steve Anderson

Inspired me to put strings on my Shergold Modulator. Great tutorial thanks!

Yes, it's an enduring mystery what happened to those backing tracks. Still not found them. Probably on a knackered hard drive somewhere. These days I'm a lot more careful with archiving my stuff, so it shouldn't happen again!

Thanks Marcelo. I like the idea of playing the entire album in sequence! Good luck with that!

Yes, I might start doing that a bit more, particularly when I'm looking at tracks with notable bass lines.

Seems there are quite a few guitarists who also play bass on here. I might not be able to do it every week, but from time to time I will try and keep the bass tabs coming.

This is another good lesson. I particularly enjoy your breakdowns of how you arrived at the final sound/tone. Thanks for including the bass line. I have a newish bass sitting amongst the various guitars so this gives me a great reason to break it out. Would love to see you include more bass lines in the future. Cheers!
