Hello everyone. This week, another one of those pieces where I combine rhythm and lead, or chords and fills. This is such a good skill to work on, and a great way to give your solo playing a bit of shape and direction.

Here's a link to the video -

And I've tabbed it all out below.

Hope you enjoy woking on it!

You mentioned in this video the way in which you organise the fretboard into chords scales and arpeggios. Do you have any other videos that explain this in more detail? This is a great piece and one I'll definitely be learning.

Chris Williams

Good lesson sir! Once again you have hit it out of the park.

I agree with Chris, outta the park. This is really helpful. Learning guitar now for 3 year this is great to educate and motivate me. I’m learning more on scales and theory lately. 👍👍👍

Hey Adrian, Thanks for this. I've been working on Blue Train, your lesson here suggested some approaches to playing around on a jazz/blues thing. And then the 9th triads lesson a couple weeks ago combined with this opens up some fun stuff. I think you even mentioned Coltrane in that one.

Glad you're finding the lessons helpful Fin! I think even with the more complex jazz stuff it all still comes down to chord tones and then perhaps introducing some extra colours and tensions. I might well try and do a lesson on playing over a jazz blues at some point. Maybe even look at some Coltrane if I'm feeling brave!

Haroun Haroun

this is too complicated for me, I will stick to my Position-1 pentatonic Blooze Lawyer masterclass!

Nice one Adrian, looking forward to your lead course too, this should fit in

Cheers Ian. Yes, going to be launching the course very soon. It will quite a bit more basic than this lesson since it's aimed a beginners, but there may be some of stuff of interest to you in it, depends on your level at the moment!

As part of the intro to these lessons, it would be interesting to know why you have picked a particular guitar. The yellow Tele does seem to be your fave. Although I would love to hear more on a LP....
