Hello all,

Thanks to everyone for the tsunami of good wishes - really touching and very much appreciated! The good news is, I think I'm through the worst of it, and am feeling a lot better. I think I'm fortunate to have got off quite lightly compared with many.

And this morning I'm back in my natural habitat, sitting in my studio, noodling around on guitars. So I should have something new for you all on Friday.

Also, since we're coming to the end of November, I'm thinking about my regular Xmas special video. So if any of you have requests or ideas for that, those would be very welcome right now.

Thanks again everyone, and speak Friday,

Adrian

Good to hear! Fairytale of New York by the Pogues could be fun! Not much of a guitar song though 😅

anyonecanplayguitar

Yes, a timeless classic! Maybe I could come up with some kind off guitar arrangement of that. Will give it some thought.

Eike Kreinberg

Good to hear you're back on deck :-) What about some fun music? Nellie the Elephant by the Toy Dolls might be a fun song...

Jerry Camisso

Very glad to know you're recovering. Gallup is my favorite guitar man, so more of Cliff Gallup? Jean-François Duval

John

I Believed in Father Christmas- Greg Lake? Some nice guitar work in there.

Meeno Peluce

So good to hear you’re on the mend! We’re visiting Berlin this week and my imagination is working overtime reconstructing the halcyon days of Heroes, Low, Lodger.

Shane

Happy to hear you’re feeling better! I know you’ve done Fahey before but his Hark the Herald Angel Sings/ O Come All Ye Faithful Medley is amazing.

Tristan Koberl

Hope no lingering after effects - but if it turns out to be Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" then we'll know you are delirious and suffering from long covid. In contrast, Blink 182's "I won't be home for Christmas" would suggest that you are on the mend.

Michael Carr

Glad you’re feeling better!! For Christmas how about Police Truck by Dead Kennedys? We could have a contest for new lyrics Tonight’s the night that we drive the sled gonna stop by your house while you’re in bed…etc

Jaime Sanchez

I'm also getting " Back in the Saddle, Again!!! I've been "humming" & " singing" that song!!! Do a Brian Setzer "Rock-a-billy" Christmas song!!! Best Wishes!!!!

Todd

The Kinks: Father Christmas! Glad you are back at it!

Chris Strane

I’m very glad that you are feeling better! I agree with Patreon John that, “I Believe in Father Christmas” would be a good choice, either Greg Lake’s original or the more stripped down version by U2 with The Edge adding his signature delay to the tune which sounds quite good and atmospheric. Whatever you choose will be fun no doubt. Prayers for continued healing Adrian. 🙏

Peter Barabash

Keep it fun and easy... Slade - Merry Christmas Everyone. Arranged for one guitar.

Bill Foniri

Actually, thank you for providing such terrific content, which is always informative and inspiring, and at the same time entertaining and humorous. Your talent and knowledge level is incredible, and the amount of time and effort you put into each video is greatly valued and appreciated. Glad to hear you are recovering and look forward to your next post!

ALLAN MCFADYEAN

good to read you are on the mend bud, keep safe.....any chance you could do "waking up" by Elastica some day cheers Allan.

Fin

That's great. Glad to hear you're on the mend. I'd second Kinks' Father Christmas or Pogues Fairytale NY for this year's holiday season.

“MERRY CHRISTMAS” by The Ramones. I seen them twice and still out of many live shows they are in my top 10 holding two of the spots. A month ago I started a new project of learning Johnny Ramone full barre chord down picking. It’s going well with practice and ambition to learn even for an older guy just 3 years learning guitar. I’m happy to hear your feeling better 👍 Life is a pretty quick ride I’m finding out, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly are all part of that ride for me. Mostly Good. Hasta Luego! 🌵

Kerry From AJ

Slade 👍👍 Slade is always on my Christmas playlist along with The Ramones “Merry Christmas”

John Estrada

Jingle Bell Rock. That guitar intro and accompaniment is always nice to hear and play. Hope you're feeling better!

Ian Willars

Hi Adrian, great to hear you're feeling better. A version of Fairytale of New York would be great, I really miss the Pogues' Christmas gigs at the Brixton academy. Failing that anything off the Beach Boys Christmas album or perhaps Jesus Christ by Big Star. Cheers Ian

Aaron Deas

Great to hear Adrian! My uncle also had a breakthrough case and it was no joke. Cheers!

Ted Deitert

Can you please do a solo guitar jazz chord melody to The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On...) It can be hybrid picking but not full-on finger style, please. I know its not the coolest request but its such a pretty song. If not that then the chord melody to Jingle Bell Rock. Glad you're feeling better!!

Eric Larsen

I'm so glad you're on the mend, Adrian. I hope you continue to improve!

And while I'm at it, I'll throw out a suggestion for a Christmas special: "Thank God It's Not Christmas" by Sparks, from their classic LP Kimono My House.

Chris Williams

I think that last year you did a Ventures Chrismas song. If I may request another from that record....

Gary Pennington

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Song suggestion: 2000 Miles by The Pretenders.

tobi

Good to Hear! I hope you have a speedy recovery! My x mas request: there aint no sanity clause, the great Christmas Single by the damned.

Benjamin Fuqua

Glad to hear you're doing better! Another vote for Fairytale of New York here.

Peter Argent

Hi Adrian, Glad you're feeling better. My request - Last White Christmas by Basement 5.

Kerry From AJ

That’s in my top three Christmas tunes. 👍👍👍

BILL ROBINS

Thank God It's Not Christmas by Sparks!!!!!!!11

Ryan Hanks

Glad to hear that you’re on the mend! How about Teenage Christmas by Jacobites?

carmen zappile

Hope you are feeling better! My request Father Christmas -Kinks, or another Ventures one.

Andre Hessels

I would enjoy a great backing track for a traditional Christmas carol incorporating some of the different ideas that you posted such as use of 3rd, 6ths, major scale et. 2000 miles may be indeed a great track for this.

Chris

New subscriber here. Glad you are feeling better!

Bill Crelin

great to see you back noodling

Steve Lauck

Glad you are feeling better

Steve

Great to hear you are feeling better! My first thought was also Father Christmas by the Kinks, but the Ventures songs you've done a couple times were also fantastic. Also fun to discover new songs.

Doc Vinegar

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Kenny Burrell 😉✨

Dr. Beat

Merry Christmas - Ramones… that would be great…

Andre Pinault

Here is my take on christmas Surfing style; God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - by The Mermen And any pick on that album is fine - Do you Hear What I Hear : A Very Mermen Christmas
