Happy New Year all! Hope everyone had a good holiday season. I thought I'd kick off this year with a few thoughts on things to practice in 2022. Not every idea is going to be right for you, but I hope you find one or two interesting and inspiring things to try. Here's the link -

No tabs etc. for this one as most of the ideas are quite general. For a collection of useful guitar exercises you might like to revisit last year's New Year video -

Hope you find the video helpful. Speak next week,

Really interesting video with some great ideas to help with developing your guitar skills. Id describe myself as a basic intermediate guitarist and the biggest problem I have with practice is knowing what I should work on in the limited time I have each day. As I become aware of more and more techniques and theory it just seems to overwhelm me as it makes me feel like I should know all of it. What would be your advice on the KEY things that should be in your daily practice to help develop as a guitarist?

Hey Adrian, thanks for all the great lessons in 2020. Hope you have a good new year!

All excellent advice, but in particular couldn't agree more about the benefits of recording your playing. A decent USB microphone is less than $200 and there is some good free software around (Audacity or Garageband for Macs). It has made a huge difference for me recently. Even learning to use a looper can be a real eye (ear?) opener.

Thank you for the refocus Adrian. My new years resolution is to use my looper and metronome regularly and to learn the fretboard even better. I took your advice awhile back and started focusing of the fretboard and it has really opened up my playing. Onward!
