Hello all! A few people requested that I write out in full the solo that I played at the start of last week's video. So I've done just that. Find the tab attached below (I'll also add it to the main post for this lesson).

I'll leave you to figure out what's going on here. In the last 4 bars of each chorus I'm playing some slight variations on the licks I discussed in the video. The rest of the time I'm thinking chord tones, or just good old A minor pentatonic.

This week's video is something completely different. Coming shortly.

Right on thanks. It’s actually the last solo that’s been giving me trouble. I’m going back to work on the arpeggios for minor and dominant sevenths. Hopefully that helps me get the theory ( the actual technique or just leaning licks isn’t difficult) When you base your solo on chord tones vs pentatonics it always sounds a lot hipper and more intriguing to my ears. It doesn’t come naturally to me though after years of my pentatonic heavy approach.

Thanks Adrian!

Yes, studying arpeggios will certainly help with this approach, just give it time. My soloing used to be very pentatonic heavy, but now I favour a balance between the chord tones/arpeggios and a more lick-based pentatonic approach.

I'm trying to listen and pay attention to your words and music but that shiny piece of wood you are holding is far too distracting...
