This week I'm looking at the track Jennifer's Veil by The Birthday Party. (For those of you unfamiliar with the band, The Birthday Party were an Australian band fronted by Nick Cave and featuring guitar from the incredible Rowland S Howard.)

A great song, and not too hard to play - some nice single note riffs and some interesting chordal and atmospheric parts.

The tab can be found below. I've written out the first verse and chorus, after that everything just repeats in a similar manner. The backing track will be in the next post.

If you'd like more Rowland S Howard I've also done a video on six the song Bells Chime by Crime and the City Solution as well as the track Breakdown(and then). Both can be found on my YouTube channel.

Hope you enjoy.

Speak next week,

Adrian

Rowland is one of my all-time favorite guitar players. Thanks for posting this, Adrian! Looking forward to watching the video.

Mister Sowers

That whole album is impossibly good. Thanks for working this one out.

Ignatz Maus

Wunderbar! Was this used in a movie?

Toby

Awesome one of my favourites!I love Rowland's sound. Great one. Been trying learn to learn pop crimes off his solo album but just can't get the tone

Alexander Pike

It was bizarre to see nick cave attending the coronation

John C. Alsedek

Thanks for this, Daniele! Have been thinking about getting the RSH pedal.

RSH was Always good for some great demented guitar. Yesterday I picked up a copy of the First These Immortal Souls album at a flea Market. Great lesson, as always

Thanks Daniele! Yes, I did come across this pedal a while back but forgot all about it. Thanks for reminding me - I think I'll pick one up as it looks excellent.

Thanks Toby! Yes love his solo work. I think a lot of the tone must be in that specific Jag he used, quite unique.

haha yes, the last person I expected to see at the coronation but there you go... There was an interesting response on the Red Hand Files when someone asked what would the young Nick Cave would have thought about it.

Legion Lair

I played guitar (badly) for years then took an 8 year hiatus as I got distracted by other things. I just picked up a Squier Classic 70's Jaguar and have been slowly trying to remember all the things I've forgotten as well as actually try to learn more things time. I stumbled across opne of your triad videos which really inspired me but it was this video that moved me to suppport you. Thanks for all you do! BTW never got the chance to see the Birthday Party live but I was priveliged to see Rowland an intimate setting way back in Sydney, kicking my self for being so young, dumb and self involved that Id din't pay much attention.

I was lucky enough to see the Birthday Party at the Sydney Trade Union Club in 1983, they didn't disappoint! Thank you Adrian, you cover some killer tracks. And I for one am very grateful.
