This week a slightly obscure, but thoroughly gorgeous track from the band Meat Puppets. I've been listening to the album Meat Puppets II quite a bit lately and just had to sit down and figure this one out and turn it into a video.

I've tabbed it out below. There are just 2 sections which are repeated. There are lots of minor variations in the parts throughout, but rather than transcribe every last nuance, I think it's best if I leave it up to you to vary the parts as you see fit.

The backing track will be in the next post.

Hope you enjoy it. I strongly recommend the entire album, so do check it out if you're not familiar with it.

Speak next week,Adrian

Wow! This made my day! Have always wanted to master this stellar instrumental (and now I can). Thanx!

[sharing same comment here that I posted on Adrian's YT channel] Absolutely LOVE the Meat Puppets. Curt Kirkwood is an incredible guitarist, at least to my ears that seem drawn more to unusual and interesting-sounding guitar playing than anything else, and the whole band comes together in such fascinating rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic ways. Great lesson as always, Adrian. More importantly, this lesson is yet another in the countless examples why this channel and Adrian's approach to sharing his knowledge and love of music are truly rare gems. (By the way, I'm still chuckling over the title of Adrian's fictitious click-bait YouTube video, "5 Terrible Guitar Mistakes You Didn't Even Realize You Were Making!")

hi Adrian, please continue as you do, and do not care of getting millions of views. What you do is invaluable to many of us, who follow this channel and enjoy what you do.

Adrian, who you are is why I subscribe to this channel and why I visit your ACPG website. You certainly have the right to do what you want with your channel, but I have been nothing but grateful to you for introducing me to so much music that I ignored as I went through my life. I seemed to be stuck on rock and roll, from early 60's through the 80's where I started losing interest in pop radio. Now I'm digging into all kinds of stuff and just loving it. The Meat Puppets are another band I had never heard of, but this is a must learn for me and I'll be checking out more of their stuff. Thank you and if my vote counts, I hope you continue your lessons as you are. You are bringing and old man a lot of joy learning some facinating stuff.

Brilliant Adrian, Meat Puppets II is a phenomenal record, and your lesson is spot on. You're working your way through the 80s SST roster! How about something off SY's 'Sister' to round it off? Keep up the great work.

See my latest video: 5 INSANE mistakes that you wouldn't believe are even humanly possible to make. UNREAL!!!

"Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?"

So glad you're taking a look at the Meat Puppets. They put out several excellent albums. Never really seemed to catch on.

Thank you, Adrian!!! I've been suporting your channel from the pandemic with those Siuoxsie & Banshees songs, loving most of the songs you had teach us, songs i never figured it out by myself, but this one is a song i love. It was really a nice surprise when i saw you doing this song. It's one of my fav songs from Meat Puppets from that album (along New Gods), never had the idea to actually play it, now i know i want to play it :) Curt Kirkwood is actually one of my guitar heroes and his songs are sometimes immpossible to play and sing at the same time :) Thank you! BTW: My favorite Siouxsie song and i love to play in bass but could never figured it out what the guitar is doing is Candyman. Any chance you could get aboard this idea? ;)

Jason Power

Yes, Obscure as much as you want. Perfect, love it!!

I’ve loved many of your videos and/or instagram clips, but this is the one that finally made me subscribe (don’t know why I waited so long)! Thanks!
