A lot of people have asked me to take a look at this one. And I understand why: it's a 1990s classic featuring some beautiful guitar work from the mighty Bernard Butler. There's plenty to dig into here - memorable and quirky rhythm parts and a fantastic solo.

I've tabbed everything out below.

Hope you enjoy it.

Wow, thanks Adrian! I learned the first part thanks to Bernard's brief tutorial but this detail is outstanding. I tuned to Eb on my Yamaha SG 1000, and the tone is great. Cheers!

Cyril

Thanks very much Adrian ! Great tune as all Suede's !

Jeff Owen

Thanks Adrian. I've watched Bernard's tutorial and it's great but as ever your explanations are spot on. I now feel inspired to try to learn this properly. Please do more Suede, my favourite to learn is "We are the pigs" but understanding how they achieved the dreamy tones on "Pantomine Horse" would also be good. I love to play "Wild Ones" on acoustic I found a good tutorial for that on YouTube.

Cheers Adrian for kicking the weekend off in style!

Andy Santandreu

Adrian, you outdid yourself with this one. Thank you!

Darren Smith

Love the broad sound from the Les Paul and really appreciate your ear for detail and clear explanation - even when I'm more inclined to learn the Don Rich country picks. Great work again. Thanks.

Charles Batho

Excellent. Def do another Suede track. Although the Butler tracks are probably still the best the later stuff is still good. I only realised as Spotify did that auto play thing. Recommend The Blue Hour or the latest record.

Alan Patrickson

Thanks Adrian, I love BB’s playing and you can hear his influence all over British guitar players since. I also love that vid you refer to - he wear’s his brilliance so lightly, no ego. His recent stuff with Jessie Buckley is also 🔥 in a completely different way.

Jonathan Fearon

Excellent stuff. We Are The Pigs would amazing, some brilliant playing on that too.

poplar

you should do "the asphalt world", great soloing

HandOfIke

Thanks Adrian, much appreciated!

Robsoft

Really enjoyed this, thank you! *Definitely* - please look at another Bernard Butler track - I'm a fan of 'Stay Together', there's an extended cut of this that is very atmospheric - you get a hint of it coming as the single version fades out. @poplar has already suggested 'The Asphalt World' which would be another great shout, and going back to the debut I always thought the opener 'So Young' had some really nice little flourishes on it (from both.Bernard and also Mat on the bass).

Matt

Good stuff. Like Robsoft, I enjoy 'Stay Together'n alluring eeriness, even if it does edge close to indulgence at times. 'So Young' is worth a go too. The live version swaps out the piano solo for guitar. Frankly, anything early to mid-90s and you've got me hooked!

Suede were supposed the MASSIVE new English Invasion Beatles/Smiths wonder band in the early 90s but were completed eclipsed by the far shitter Oasis. How good is Imperialism??
