Hello all! As a companion piece to last year's video on major key triads, I thought I'd take a look at how triads work in minor keys. There's some theory, a bunch of exercises and a discussion of how these materials can be used in either rhythm or lead situations.

Everything is tabbed out below, including the little improvisation I play at the top of the video.

Hope you find it interesting.

I love the triads lessons! They’re my next big step definitely. Thank you.

Vin Fetty

Awesome! Thanks for this lesson. I do spend a lot of time in the major triads that I’m always thinking, eventually I have to get to the minor triads down. Here is my way forward.

Great lesson, Adrian! I started playing guitar 2 years ago, and recently just learned to do chord tone soloing to the 1-6-4-5 in A Major. Looking forward to getting into this lesson. Thanks from Australia 🏖️🏄🏻‍♂️🦘

Now, how about the stretch triads?

NB

Thanks Adrian … simple/clear explanation of a wonderfully complex concept… so much value in this lesson!!!

Peter Healy

Thanks again Adrian. I am slowly working Triads into my playing. Once again another ACPG Lesson that will help me out.

Its great learning the "song" and "solo" lessons. But these are the ones that have really improved my playing, especially with improvisation. Thanks again!

I LOVE triad lessons. No moaning and groaning from me. I was thrilled to wake up to this this morning.

Love this type of video from you Adrian. That's the rest of my month taken care of then!

Michael Cotner

I'm working with a stack of your lessons and you do them brilliantly. Currently I'm working on your, Nice Lick 7 and your, Triads + 2nd solo, from Ditch the scales and try these triad based soloing tricks. I've been learning Add9 and 9th chords this weekend.

Hi Adrian, great lesson. Brings me back to repeat the major ones. By the way I practise this on a baritone ukulele thats help me visualise it quite good, especially for acoustic guitar play. Thanx. Cheers Steve

Jacques Martin

Thanks for this great lesson, Adrian. It is a long term one and I am sure I will often come back to these exercises.

Thank you, Adrian. It's useful to know what is happening with triads whether messing with rythym and/or lead. One good use of Triads is Steve Jones's simple but effective solo in Anarchy in the UK.

Sandra Cloutier

Very useful and beautiful!!! I think I can manage !

Can someone please point me to the Major Triads lesson mentioned in this post? (i.e., "...last year's video on major key triads...." I'm not having any luck with the search.
