Looking for Beta Readers! (Patreon)
Content
Hey folks! After working with Virgil Knightley on our recent collaboration (more info about that soon!) I really enjoyed how he handles working with beta readers. I've decided to update my process for new books to match his.
I'm now looking to recruit beta readers to read through my drafts ahead of publication to catch any bits of confusion or plot holes. This means, if you sign up to help, I'll send you a new book early (sometimes even before it gets an editing pass) and ask you to read through the draft on Google Docs with an eye toward calling out things that might be poorly explained or inconsistent.
I don't expect you to flag typos or correct grammar. Instead, I'm looking for feedback like "I don't understand why this is happening" or "didn't you say the opposite a few chapters ago?" The draft you read will likely also have plenty of typos, though hopefully not egregious ones.
If you volunteer, I'd need you to read each draft relatively quickly (likely in a week and some change) to make sure I still got the manuscript to RGP on time. So, if this sounds like something you'd be willing to do, let me know either by responding to this post, sending me a PM on Patreon, on Discord, or by email (dannyroganauthor@gmail.com).
The first book I'm recruiting beta readers for is my new urban fantasy series, Urban Sorcerer, which was inspired by books like Warlock and Dark City Girls. Here's the current cover and blurb.
Urban Sorcerer: A Slice-of-Life Men’s Adventure
Magic is real. So are fairies... and one is in love with him.
After Clay Carradine rescues a fairy from her iron cage, he learns an evil sorcerer will do anything to have her back. To protect them both, he must master his new magic powers.
Fortunately, Clay isn’t alone. With the help of his new fairy girlfriend, a cute barista who can see auras, and a sexy arcane bounty hunter, Clay can do more than defeat their enemies.
The four of them can build a new life filled with magic, wonder, and even love.
If you'd like to beta read this book for me, let me know and we'll get everything set up in Google docs. Right now I'm looking for somewhere between 3 and 6 people, especially if you've beta read before.
Thanks folks!
