What makes it hurt so much is that it's what can really happen during war and in battle. A friend of mine during his 2nd tour in Iraq woke up and said morning to his roommate and that evening they were sending his body home. This show takes what real things can happen and makes us feel everything. All the highs and lows. This show makes you feel the entire rollercoaster of emotions. It's just so beautiful, a masterpiece of storytelling. You get so attached to characters so quickly and easily. Yes, Shin did a mercy for Eugene, if you missed it his lower half was missing besides his arm. The animators intentionally put the grass to hide that fact, mostly, and spared having to show the viewers. They also didn't show Shin pulling Eugene out of his Vanagandr either. It took 5 or 6 hits to go down. Eugene was very courageous and left a lasting impact on Shin.
