Nothing but PEAK onward from here! For some clarity (you can see in a few of the radar shots), there's around 16 - 20 of them (including that older guy Bernholdt they always show) not 5, in Nordlicht squadron.

I hope they explain why they have this type of power/connection and also who else has it 😳

Aaron Wright

As said by the other guy, yeah Nordlicht squadron is 20 people, all the veterans who survived the prototype training. The other 15 are mostly foreign mercs.

My understanding is, in this world, its a genetic telepathic gift? Passed down like any sort of genetics. From Ernst's comments about the para-raid 'mimicing the abilities of a certain family' its not something thats mystical or unknown to them

I believe Lena’s Uncle wanted the Republic to fall and his “people” to be wiped out as a sort of atonement for the crimes they committed against the “86”, (Im an anime only) but when him and Lena are taking in that almost shrine/church in an earlier ep he had those outbursts of anger when Lena wanted to do more towards improving the War effort he dismissed it saying the Alba are a useless people and even in this ep when she wants to bring the “86” in to the districts to fight a last stand he was basically saying just let the Legion in to the districts which is paramount to basically letting the Alba get genocided idk 🤷‍♂️ though maybe a manga reader can confirm or deny..

I think you're right, he was also testing her resolve at that moment. "May you taste defeat, Lena. I pray that your childish dreams crumble in the face of reality." By framing it this way, Karlstahl acknowledges his own failures and sins as an adult of the Republic. He chooses to sacrifice his life to hold the line, deliberately buying Lena a few more precious hours to act out her "dream" before the cruel truth of the world catches up to her. Karlstahl's Main Arguments to Lena: • The Republic Deserves to Fall: Karlstahl explicitly tells Lena that the Republic of San Magnolia has no right to survive. He argues that human beings were never ready for the concepts of freedom and equality. • The Consequences of Hypocrisy: He explains that if the Republic survives by using the Eighty-Six, the rest of the world will eventually find out about the horrific oppression and internment camps. The Republic would become an international pariah, and the Eighty-Six would eventually take rightful revenge on the Alba. • Acceptance of Judgment: Rather than letting the Eighty-Six save a nation that enslaved them, Karlstahl believes it is better for the Republic to face total annihilation by the Legion as a fitting punishment for its sins. • A Soldier's Death: Despite his cynical learned helplessness, Karlstahl respects Lena’s pure idealism. He tells her he won't stop her from trying to fight. He switches from his pristine dress boots to his old, broken-in combat boots. Symbolizing his return to being a true soldier of the old Republic rather than a complacent coward, to make his own final stand against the invading Legion.
