There is a lot to cover this episode, so I'll try to keep it as short as I can. First off, how would you even recognize your own handprint? It looks like any other to me, but for Emilia to recognize one of the handprints as her own seems quite odd to me. Volcanica mentions Flügel, Reid, Shaula and Farsale. As we already know, this was a place where Satella was sealed. It had tests related to Flügel, Reid and Volcanica and Shaula was protecting it. It's safe to say, all of them traveled together. Having Emilia's handprint on the tablet there and Volcanica calling Emilia Satella would also allude to the fact that Satella was also probably traveling with them. So the handprints most likely belong to Volcanica, Flügel, Reid, Shaula, Farsale and Satella. It's also interesting how they are using Satella and the Witch of Envy here separately, as Volcanica sees Emilia as Satella but only enrages once the name Witch of Envy is brought up. The fact that they are using those two names separately from eachother helps confirm more of the double personality theory, where Satella was the good personality and the Witch of Envy was bad. Volcanica even says "Satella, thou hast been reduced to the Witch of Envy. We must stop thee." which would confirm this even more. My best guess would be that they sealed the Witch of Envy in the tower and Satella got to be reborn as Emilia. (It also would kind of explain why she keeps constantly using such old phrases all the time.) Seeing Emilia in action is still super cool, the more we see of her, the stronger she seems. To go toe-to-toe with Volcanica can't be easy. The bigger question about this part of the fight was though, how did Volcanica know Patrache? Since he traveled with Flügel, I'm guessing Flügel named a similar ground dragon also Patrache? Since Subaru is considered to be Flügel, we can assume he did similar actions because he is who he is. We saw this with Amnesiabaru where he used similar words and phrases or did similar things as his (real) past self, so I believe that's a good telltale sign of Flügel being a past version of Subaru or something like that. It could even be that Subaru somehow managed to find a way to travel to the past and Emilia took the name Satella, Subaru took the name Flügel and they took Patrache and Shaula with them. It's a bit confusing but it could make sense. The thumbs up from the ice Subaru lol I wonder what Emilia did though, I feel like they didn't explain it enough. Did Volcanica defeat all of the mabeasts attacking the tower? And what did Joseph (Julius' ground dragon) have to do with anything? I hope someone can explain it to me. It was sad to see Shaula and Subaru technically say goodbye, but I'm glad we managed to save Shaula to some extent. She deserved to be free of the tower. Such a beautiful moment. Turns out, everyone now remembers Emilia, but not Julius and Rem. More on Rem later. Turns out, Julius captured Roy. In a spell similar that was used to seal Satella no less. (It's pretty telling that Satella was sealed with shadow magic, the affinity Subaru has and with Shamak no less; so if it's true, Julius here took inspiration from Flügel-Subaru lol) Since this magic was used to seal Satella and we know Satella was also sealed in the tower, I wonder what the seal in the elf forest was for? I also wonder what's up with Rui and how she managed to appear in the tower, considering how she wasn't supposed to have a physical form. But more importantly, Satella appears again. I'm not quite sure what Volcanica did here either but I think Volcanica might have saved Subaru from Satella. We also get to see one of those creepy white birds again. It's clear that they are watching, but are they watching Subaru or the tower? It's odd that the bird would fly away from the tower as soon as Subaru was teleported away. Did they achieve some kind of goal? Was it waiting for Satella to return instead? So many mysteries. Speaking of birds, we see one fly over Subaru as he wakes up. Coincidence? Maybe. Regardless, an unknown amount of time has passed and we have no idea where we are. Rem is there, but what happened to Rui? Rui was next to Subaru when he was being engulfed in Satella's shadow, just like Rem was. Speaking of Rem, she's finally awake, but doesn't remember Subaru. This kinda makes sense though, as both her memories and her name were eaten. Since everyone didn't remember Rem, could it be that the memories Rui threw out in Od Lagna are still there, but the name that was inside Lye came back to Rem? So essentially she regained one of the two parts of herself that were eaten. What an amazing end to a season though, I hope the next one comes soon because there are still so many questions and mysteries left. My favorite moment also has to be the moment with Shaula, she definitely was a star in this season and for a character that's been so little with us, she definitely left an impression and it would be sad to see her go, so I also hope that small scorpion truly is her. I also hope you enjoyed reading my ramblings and I was able to give maybe a differing viewpoint or an idea or a theory. Thank you for reading!

I was confused by the Joseph thing too and I think it's probably Crunchyroll's AI captions being stupid again. What I think they were implying is that Subaru was saying to meili that he is going to take on her pain but it was a lot for him so he asked Joseph to help share the pain since he's a big boy dragon and has a lot of energy and stamina to spare since he was just napping near the cart the entire time. So in imagining it's like in electrical engineering, I think he used Joseph as a buffer to share the load in parallel so that subaru doesn't shortcircuit and so that meili doesn't pop. Which then means that Subaru was telling Joseph after the incident that he's thankful for his help and that Subaru and the gang is there for him too in the future. And as for Emilia, I think she just stopped the tower rules like an administration override key if we're thinking in short art online terms. And that effectively allowed shaula to be released enough to be freed even in death and die gentle instead of in previous loops her human body was found mutilated probably because she was unable to break free and rest? I don't know.

I mean both of those things sound pretty logical other than the human Shaula part. I believe that could've just happened before she managed to transform, but who really knows. It could definitely mean that she's free from the rules though, that would make sense. Thanks for the thoughts!

Yeah the human shaula part was a stretch because I feel like we're missing some key information either from the subtitles or from the show runners. This season has been great but I feel that some critical scenes or pieces of dialogue needed to be fleshed out a bitter more or reworded. I don't even think it needed much either, maybe 5 more seconds at best that could be cut elsewhere. For example, fixing the Joseph dialogue with saying "Meili keep going, i'll take on the pain\burden" (First) And THEN showing 1 second of showing Subaru spitting blood in pain and THEN saying "did my body reach a limit?" and then going to the Joseph scene when Subaru says "I'm sorry to ask, can you help me save Meili from her pain, my tough Josephhhh?!" And then showing 2s animation of the cor leonis circuit board as we show how Subaru is funneling for example red pain energy from Meili through him to Joseph and then green\white energy back to meili like endurance and we see the same Meili of her popping back up and going all out. That literally took 3-5s of screen time and better choice of words, but anyone who would see that slight scene variation would understand without a doubt what happened without having to go to the comments or Google and ask wtf did that mean? I had the exact same "huh?" Moment last episode with ram and her "irs my horn?" Which I kinda assumed it was synesthesia. But then completely lost the plot when Rye gluttony started getting his hands chopped off.. Google told me that ram set up traps inspired by the traps that Rye\Lye used on her near the stairs but it felt like I needed a crystal ball to guess that one from the Crunchyroll anime alone. Because I thought he straight up was so distraught and kept removing memories so much that he forgot where he placed his own similar looking traps and then couldn't find his way out of the minefield and it pinned him down long enough for ram to go for the snipe.

Tarvo27

Yeah, I totally agree, there definitely could've been a bit more context to some scenes. Overall, it wasn't too bad though, we could compare this to season 2 with Omega being cut out or season 1 where there's absolutely vital information that's being cut, like Al being from Japan and so on. I can forgive season 1 and 2 because they probably weren't sure if they wanted to keep going with the anime to the end, but at this point they should probably try to do their best so that the viewers wouldn't need to read the novels or something to get the full picture. All in all, regardless of what happens or how bad the adaptation might be, I'm glad we have one at all. 🥹

Next season will be amazing and probably will have at least 3 parts
