Devlog #70: Poles and boobs (Patreon)

(I apologize for posting this late, I wasn't feeling very well yesterday.)I wanna start off by talking about the "reveal" at end of AR:Gaiden: AR2 Season 2.Simply put, the game is BIG, storage-wise. I don't want people having to download a 20GB VN and it's also a pain in the ass to upload something like that with my internet. And so, Chapter 6 will end Season 1 of AR2. On your end it won't be that much different than going from one chapter to the next since, although the "season" will end on a big story beat, it's mostly a technical decision rather than a narrative one.

But that is for the distant future! Let's talk about the less distant one:Work has already begun on AR2's chapter 4 and so far my workflow it's a mixed bag: some scenes just flew by, others are testing my patience and I can't seem to get the lighting right.I really hope I can get back in the hang of things quickly 'cause, I won't lie, I'm really not liking some of the renders I'm doing (especially this past weekend).

Chapter 4 is going to be a "wide" one. With MC settling in her new living situation, every path is going to have its own scenes and story beats, things like "finding a job", "doing the sorority trial's challenges" or "studying with friends in the dorm".For the "shared" parts, we've got the main two setpieces of the chapter: Annie's date and a big party.

The party was Awaken's idea over on Discord. I was really stumped on what to do for the second part of the chapter and that idea solves a lot of problems, allowing me to have lots of interactions and a good place to cram A LOT of sex scenes. (I aim to have at least one scene with every romanced girl in this chapter)

This party is going to be a challenge, but in a good way. I want it to be more open-ended than the one in Chapter 1, but without falling into point-and-click territory. I'm actually very excited about it, even if it's going to be a lot of work. A looooot of work.

All this to say "Look, I don't know when it's gonna be ready".If I see that the second half is taking too long I won't leave you with a drought of content, I'll simply split the chapter in two and release first half.I feel like I say it for every long chapter...
