Better to love and lose,... then never love at all.

Did a render inspired by iconic shot of The Bat and The Cat kiss by Jim Lee in Batman Hush.

This was my entry for Wild Life Valentine Day Contest. Pretty happy how it turned out. Everything is made in game without any editing after.

Listened to Catwoman by Michael Giacchino on the background. The Batman might be overhyped movie, but I must say that its music and aesthetic is really great.

In the original artwork, I really loved that contrast between warm orange light from streets that hits the heavy smoke rising to rooftop and clear dark skies. It has so much depth and atmosphere. It was really, really fun to work on the background and trying to reacreate the original art atmosphere. Work on background took me around 4-8 hours, may be more. Don't know for sure - lost track of the time.

The pose was already made for Office Shadow assets, though it was not this refined. I did a lot of tweaking to make it look more expressive. The hardest part was actually making them kissing. It took a lot of small tweaking to move their head to the right angle, so two characters are clearly readable and distinct, don't overlap each other too much, and has interesting shapes to look at. The other challenge was moving Cat's leg. I really wanted to create some passion on this kiss, so I wanted her leg to touch and hug the Bat. It was difficult to position it, in a way, so Bat's hand look right, but at the end it pushed me to do more expressive pose and I am happy with it!Lighting was so much fun to set up for this shot. Background lighting and volumetrics is one story, but character lighting is the other. There are 4 different light sources hitting the characters from different sides. It took a lot of exprirementation, but I am so happy how it turned out. I am getting tired of writing at this point, so may be I'll share more about this next time. But the one light sourse that was cherry on the top and I added as experement was the orange "street" light that hits catwoman from the back. I am so happy that I tried it. It created such a cool contrast between how characters are illuminated and made cat so distinct from the background. So that's the look at artwork and a small glance at creative process.Once again, Happy Valentine Day to you all.
