When I was running The Dead House, when the party encountered the Living Armor, I had to adjust it on the fly to make it so the monster couldn't move from its pedestal and only swung at the players if they got too close, since they were having a lot of trouble doing damage to it.

Would anyone know why, I'm not able to watch this? It's not even giving me the option for audio only

Great episode I love all these looks behind the screen

I liked the intro of Smarsh. It was one of the first times that I think the group realized, oh we could maybe approach this in combat but differently. And then to see the long standing role that choice made. And they had slightly different approaches to the same encounter with who is the "bad" guy.

Not my idea but we built into our campaign that buffing characters that didn't have great combat skills had a bonus to initiative. It was a feat the could take and increased with their lvl. It made it so they could provide buffs before others started combat. It worked well because usually they couldn't do much for dmg or debuffs for enemies so them going first really helped.

I'm going to be honest here... I've never checked out Behind the Screen because I thought it would just be technical gobbledygook that I would never use. I happened to run out of Stinky stuff to listen to as I just finished my 4th run through of previous campaigns... I'm so glad I did! This was a fascinating peek behind the DM screen that opens my eyes as a player! Y'all are so entertaining and informative! Thank you for what you do!!

"Don't let the rules get in the way of the fun" should be the Tagline for D&D (any TTRPG really)
