For me, a Nightmare on Elm Street would work best for a one-shot, as it will be highly personal to your PCs. Maybe Freddy krugar could be a mindflayer.

YES!!! Our family watches Krampus nearly every holiday!

Horror is fear. Without fear it is merely a thriller.

I'd imagine "A Quiet Place" would be quite the challenge for the players. LOTS of stealth checks.

My group does a Halloween one shot every year. This year’s theme is Saw with its own little twist. I’m excited for it!!

TRE

James Gunn's Slither! Creepy space monster parasite creating zombie monsters with a hive mind, Gunn's dry wit humor, etc. Perfect for a one shot, IMO!

Cobdar

So many other TTRPGs that deal exclusively with Horror. Call of Chthulu is the Banner carrier. Cosmic Horror is the best.

Cobdar

I would say Helplessness is the essence of Horror, not Fear. There is fear in Drama and Comedy.

Cobdar

CoC is not “”hard”. It’s lethal, and designed as such. Chris and Blaine would hate it because you don’t usually get a chance to develop a character before they are killed or go insane, as is the way when facing Cosmic-level horror. Man is insignificant in the universal scheme of things. We just CAN’T understand!

Kracka

C Squad season 2 when?

I'm in agreement with John on Wednesday you're not alone but I'm sure we are the minority lol. Maybe cabin in the woods would work best with Shadow Dark game system Have 10 characters on back up and prepare to switch often. Aliens is a newer TTRPG they have released. I've seen a couple of Live Plays it's pretty neat.
